A poignant, beautiful story ❤️
Haunting. Poignant. Melancholic. Devastating. Lonely. Beautiful. Harrowing. Passionate. How do you describe a book that made you feel everything, a whirlwind of emotions throughout the journey? I feel so empty yet hopeful after reading this book that I’m still contemplating how exactly to articulate my thoughts. Rosie, an ordinary “vanilla” teenager ruled by the routines she strictly follows, and Will, a reclusive, handsome boy with sad, lonely eyes and a mysterious dark past, develop an unconventional friendship because of Rosie’s twin brother, Josh, who happens to be in the same class as Will. Life takes multiple turns. Rosie and Will grow closer, yet drift apart because of unexpected circumstances. And still, life keeps bringing them back together, even when they don’t intend it to (or maybe they do!). The writing is achingly beautiful, and so many themes have been handled with incredible sensitivity—depression, trauma, su*cide, grief, loneliness, responsibility, and love. It’s the kind of book that tears you apart, and yet you can’t help but wonder: why can’t I blame anyone? The characters and their backstories have been so delicately developed. When life keeps moving forward and you’re simply trying to go with the flow, what is it that actually keeps you from moving forward? As Rosie and Will navigate life, sometimes together yet distant, sometimes apart and with other partners… you begin to realise that this story is about so much more than whether they end up together or not. At some point, I stopped caring about the romance. I didn’t want to know whether Rosie and Will would end up together. I just wanted to know if they were okay. Are they okay? How are they going to turn out? Where do they actually end up? It’s not just about Rosie or Will. It’s about all of them. Every single character. They suffer. They carry burdens they were never responsible for. They struggle with things that were never their fault because somehow, for many of them, nothing ever feels like enough. I absolutely devoured this book and I would strongly suggest you pick this one up. Read it. Sit with these characters for a while. Think about them. ❤️❤️
