Rolling Thunder
Yeah yeah yeah, it's all that. Warm and articiculate. Bass is massive but defined. Creamy thru the mids and soft in the highs, but with a certain clarity. 100 watts, let's it stand alone in a 1x12. In a 2 or 4x12, paired w/a UK celestion(ceramic25) it's pure magic. There's a modest speaker set here so I'll give few short examples: Vintage 30= extreme hatred. EVH g12= exceptional, perhaps a little light on bass and a little gritty in the mids but if you can't do it w/that then....it ain't the speaker. Old alnicos, various brands: all great but breakup quickly and lose definition. Similar w/ old small mag ceramics. G12h 30 UK, really good but dethroned by the blackbird and the evh just weeps in special way. The G12 international is the sleeper value pick, imo, but like the evh, performs better w/friends in a 2x or 4x situation. Good luck,

My favorite speaker
I have tried tons of guitar speakers. This is my favorite one, including by comparison to the Celestion Alnico cream or blue, every kind of Celestion, Mesa boogies V30's and C90's, and a bunch of eminence speakers. Buy it, give is a few months of break in, and you'll be loving it. If you can find it on sale...even better.

One Of The Best Guitar Speakers I've Heard
I've played guitar for many years, and this Jensen product (along with the custom Celestions that are made for Matchless amps) are easily the best 12" speakers for guitar I've ever heard. (this one is just a bit more laid back). Hesitated at first because of the price, but believe me, it's worth it. Tried to save the money by first going with the Electric Lightning, and it's a fine product, but a specialty item. This is the total package; just excellent.

Truly Professional Speaker
I've been using a Blackbird in an Allen Accomplice (think blackface Deluxe Reverb) for over a year. It's the best speaker I've ever used in this amp. For the last 6 years I was using a Celestion G12H heritage, but I wanted something with a bit more top. I first put in a Celestion Gold, and it was great, but I wanted a bit more of a refined tone. Tried a G12-65, Weber Silver AlNiCo 1265, but there wasn't enough bottom end for jazz stuff. So I took a chance, spent the considerable coin this speaker cost, and won!The tones are all well balanced, there's no flub or farting (but remember I'm only using a 22 watt amp) and the tone is clear and refined. A little more hi-fi than the Gold, but the Gold cuts better in noisy bars. I suspect the Blackbird would have plenty of cut if you were using a 50 or 100 watt amp. But I preferred the creamy smoothness of the Blackbird. It's less honky than the Gold. (And I like the Celestion Golds - I have 2 in a Rivera amp and they're never coming out of that amp!) (I have run the Rivera through the Blackbird with tremendous results, easily on par with the Golds, but the honkiness of the Golds just work with that amp. I've also tried the Blackbird with a '65 Super Reverb and I much preferred it to the original 4x10's.)If you're truly tone obsessed then I would heartily recommend the 12" Blackbird; if you have those kind of ears you'll appreciate this speaker. Creamy-smooth overdrive, amazing string separation, articulate attack without any ice-pick, tight, refined bass with no boominess. And, dare I say, it has mids as rich as chocolate, but with no lack of clarity. A truly professional speaker.

GROWLS AND SINGS
I purchased this speaker to compliment my 100-watt Marshall amp head. Crank up the bass, this will make windows rumble. Crank up the treble, the rumbling windows will now shatter. Either way, with sweet AlNiCo this speaker really sings - clean with no signs of distortion no matter how much volume you throw at it. However, run it through the overdrive channel of the amp, and it will convincingly convey the amplifier's distortion. I don't think this could distort on its own no matter how hard you tried. Built like a tank in Italy, this sure beats the hell out of the latest Celestion speakers made in China!

Simply Amazing
Put this in a 60w Fender Pro Tube Super Sonic and it SINGS! I've tried just about every brand of guitar speaker and Jensen is now definitely my favorite. The Jensen Jet Blackbird sounds like a Celestion Gold but even better (hear me out!)First off - it's 100 watts so this thing really moves some air.Second - it's 100% sweet alnico all the way. So smooth, sparkling, chimey, warm, does highs and lows! This is the ultimate guitar speaker!!!
