Hello, our shipping rates come directly from UPS & USPS. It unfortunately is out of our hands, especially with the cost of everything being so high right now. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: Is this something I could use as compost for my garden after my rats use?

I wouldn't. It has rat feces and urine in it.

Q: I read a review of someone who's rats died after they stitched to this bedding. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

I used this bedding almost exclusively for my rats and never had any of them die from this litter. I think it kept them from getting sick, actually.

Q: Is this safe for cockatiels?

Absolutely! Little to no dust and not treated with chemicals. I would put it in the freezer to kill any mites that you don't want in your birds cage.
