Great product. Protects the cork as advertised and seals existing cracks to make shoes look new.

This product made my Birkenstock feel like new again. It definitely stiffened the sides. Gives a good feel that they will last longer. The product is sticky, I would recommend wearing gloves when putting it on. I did get some one my straps and it stained it slightly. Just be careful taking your time putting it on.

This comes in a tube without a brush and is more liquid than toothpaste, so I put some on a piece of aluminum foil and applied it with one of my children's small paint brushes. It went on white but became clear when it dried. I saw that some people said it stained their shoes. If you're careful and use a small brush to apply it, it won't stain your shoes. I got some on the sole but it wiped off easily. I splashed water on the cork after the sealer had dried, and the water beaded up - a sign that the sealer worked!

The sealant seems to work and do its job adequately, but I found it just a little hard to use. The product initially comes out as a liquid, and is released so readily that it’s not hard to apply too much sealant or end up accidentally applying sealant to the leather upper or rubber sole of the sandal instead of the cork. This is particularly true because the top sponge where the product is released seems larger than it needs to be given that there isn’t that much cork surface area that needs to be sealed. Also, when the sealant dries on the leather upper or the sole, it looks slightly weird or sloppy. All said, however, just a minor irritant.

For the reviews that said this product was counterfeit or not original. The product I received was 100% legit and worked like the stuff from back in the day but easier to use than the lid with the wire and cotton ball attached to spread the gel. I have worn Birkenstocks for 30 years and know this stuff absolutely prolongs the life of your sandals.

I ordered the Birkenstock cork sealer on my pretty used Birkenstock sandals. I will say that there wasn’t a real noticeable smell with the product when I began using it although I do want to mention that the top where the sealer comes out is very liquidy and will ooze out. I highly recommend using some sort of paint brush like a kids paint brush to apply the sealer onto the sides of your Birkenstocks.When I order this product, I was thinking that it was going to repair my shoes a little more. The cork sealer did add a glaze/sheen on the sides of my shoes. This does help the appearance somewhat however, it does not fix any areas that may be crumbling like on the back of the Birkenstocks. That area is still damaged and looks like there is no real way to repair it. So if you are looking for something to repair the crumbling areas, I would not recommend this product. If you just want the sheen and hope it will protect from crumbling in the future, then this might be a good product for you.
