Q: why is oily spelled wrong on the packaging?

I also noticed that "oily" is spelled "oliy". The 1st photo on the Amazon page for the product clearly shows the misspelling on the front of the box. It's not unreasonable for someone to see the packaging typo as a QC deficiency.

Q: Is the cream supposed to be a brownish color?

Mine is brownish. And it works.

Q: Does it need to be washed off in the morning? I purchased this for my husband's back and washing off in the morning is inconvenient.

The Paradise Emerald Cystic Acne Spot Treatment doesn't need to be washed off in the morning.
