It. Worked. I fully expected this stuff to be "snake oil" - another acne product falsely promising results - and I am still a bit shocked as I write this review - but this stuff delivered actual results I have never seen from another product in my life. I have struggled with bouts of cystic acne for my entire adult life (began in college around age 20 and has lasted into my late 40's) - while I have mostly gotten things under control through identifying triggers, I will still get a cyst or two about once a year. It has been many, many months since I've had one and after a week's vacation with lots of time in the direct pacific ocean sun (a trigger for my skin for sure) - I had a breakout of about 3 cysts. The first two were minor and resolved on their own. The 3rd arrived last Tuesday with that all-too-familiar "pinch" deep under the surface. Trying all my usual home remedies (warm compresses, lots of Benzoyl Peroxide, overnight patches, etc) only proved that this one was not going down without a serious fight and would probably be on my chin for weeks, if not a few months, to come. After a desperation search on reddit about cystic acne, I saw several people reference this product - which I had never heard of - and swear by it's results. I went ahead and ordered a bottle which arrived Wednesday afternoon. At this point, this cyst had turned into a dime-size throbbing welt on my chin. Red, painful and incredibly inflamed.. Visible from across the room. My first application was Wednesday around 3pm. I didn't feel like it did anything at all initially. No burning or tingling sensation. I had no hope for this but applied it again before bed. Upon waking, the cyst had shrunk a bit. The redness and pain had mostly subsided. I showered and re-applied. By that afternoon, the cyst was down 50%. By the next morning down by 75%. I write this on Saturday afternoon - three full days after the initial application. While it is not 100% gone, it is on it's way out in record time. Over the last nearly 3 decades, I have tried everything to treat these cysts. Oral medications, every variety of topical cream, pimple patches and even the last-resort cortisone injection from a dermatologist. I have never found a product that actually penetrated these cysts and killed them from the inside out. The results for me have always been the same, which is to say I'd have to let them fester for a week or more until some appearance of a pimple "head" would start to appear and then go to work trying to drain the cyst. This would ALWAYS result in ruptured skin, more swelling, incredible irritation and usually a few months of redness before finally fading. As others have mentioned, the consistency of this product is watery - almost milky - which makes application challenging. The best results came from following the directions: Apply to a clean fingertip and work into the area. I gently do this 4-5 times per application to let it absorb. It will form a little residue on top of the area which means the product has taken hold. Trying to apply with a q-tip or cotton round did not work as they absorb the liquid almost immediately.

Pros: Now that I'm going through perimenopause, I've been dealing with a lot of cystic and hormonal acne, and the Mario Badescu Deep Blemish Solution has been such a true gem for me. Whenever I feel a deep pimple forming out of nowhere, I apply this Mario Badescu treatment and it's been incredibly effective at preventing those stubborn under-the-surface bumps from fully developing. I actually really love Mario Badescu products across their entire line, including their toners, buffering lotion, and sulfur spot treatment, and they all work wonderfully together. The Mario Badescu Deep Blemish Solution is so travel friendly and easy to throw in my bag. I bring it everywhere with me, especially when traveling, because that's when I break out the most due to disrupted eating, lack of sleep, and poor air quality. The Mario Badescu treatment helps me reset my skin barrier when my entire routine is thrown off. Cons: The Mario Badescu Deep Blemish Solution has a noticeable smell that could be difficult for someone to get past, especially if they're not used to products with sulfuric acid components or distinctive scents. The smell from the Mario Badescu formula is potent and might be a dealbreaker for those sensitive to product fragrance or sulfur-based treatments.

Iv used this product off and on for years. I have oily skin around my nose in particular that obviously encourages zits and clogged pores. I feel this product really helps with deep cleaning pores and drying out oils.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I was really surprised by this product. I have struggled with hormonal acne from PCOS for all of my adult life. I usually use Spironolactone and Tretinoin to help mitigate the breakouts, and it has been THE ONLY real solution, but I’m currently pregnant so Spironolactone had to be completely discontinued (which does MOST of the work for my hormonal acne) and Tretinoin is not recommended during pregnancy (and I don’t think my skin barrier would appreciate me using it anyhow). I have had an obvious uptick in hormonal breakouts on the chin and jawline since getting pregnant and I’ve been doing EVERYTHING I can to try and keep them managed, but they are picking up a bit more. I use microdart stickers that help a little, but I have clustered breakouts that make pimple patches very impractical and expensive. ANYWAY, I was worried about this “drying” product irritating my skin barrier and leaving my skin very uncomfortable because I have naturally sensitive skin and it’s been even more delicate during pregnancy, but I read reviews and gave it a try…I was POSITIVE that this would sting and irritate my skin, but if you have severe acne - you’re used to the trial and error. I had 2 major clusters of breakouts that seemed to be peaking in their growth and irritation. My breakouts are a combination of deep cystic like pimples that take a week or so to surface, and smaller more inflammatory pimples that seem to just pop up in a single day. I used this product last night and not only did those clusters seem to calm and flatten significantly overnight, but my skin was also not irritated in anyway. Some of the more “mature” pimples had a layer of dry skin on top like when being dried out with Tretinoin, but it flaked off easily and there was a significantly flatter and less red spot underneath. I did no picking or popping before using this product, just dabbed it onto the area of the breakout and let it be. All of the “types” of pimples seems to dry out and improve atleast a little, but I saw the biggest benefit in the pimples that typically take awhile to surface and leave a big scar no matter what I do, so that’s very exciting. I’m hoping to just hush those guys up the best I can and avoid new scarring. It’s not very often that I find a hormonal/cystic acne treatment that actually helps and doesn’t cause more inflammation and irritation, but this one is going on the list especially for the remainder of this pregnancy.

This works well. Daughter loves it for the deep blemishes that take forever to head. Second time purchase. Will continue to buy.
