Jonny Quest

This collection is a Jonny Quest fan's dream. I got hooked on that show when I was 7 years old. It used to air on Friday nights and I remember one time trying to get out of going to a birthday party for the girl who lived upstairs so I wouldn't miss an episode. (Mom made me go anyway.)A lot of years have gone by since then but I've always remained a fan of that original show. A big part of it was the music. It matched the action perfectly and sent the imagination soaring. It couldn't help but get into the blood of a 7 year old boy and stay there. I was in my 40s when the whole series became available on DVD many years later but I still snapped it up.Now we have this limited edition 2-CD set of the music - and what an edition it is! Almost every tune I can remember is on there. They range from short clips a few seconds long to pieces of several minutes - all put together masterfully to make for a great listening experience.The tracks are arranged in groups corresponding to the episodes where those tracks were used. So, for example, the first section contains tracks from "The Mystery of the Lizard Men", the second contains tracks from "Arctic Splashdown", and so on through the episodes. Of course there are many tracks that were used in multiple episodes. In those cases, each only appears once. Although it'll be in the section of an episode that used it, it might not be the episode where you most remember it. A good example for me was music I always loved that played when Race Bannon was fighting Sumi in "Dragons of Ashida". In this collection, that theme (called "Wild Chase Remake") is in the "Shadow of the Condor" section, not "Dragons of Ashida".This also explains why some of the sections only have a few tracks. When I first looked at the track list, I saw there were only two tracks under "Invisible Monster." Two tracks?! But there was a lot of great music in that episode!! Relax, it's all here; some under "The Dreadful Doll", some under "The Curse of Anubis", etc. This phenomenon also explains why three shows ("Pursuit of the Po-Ho", "Monster in a Monastery", and "Sea Haunt") don't have a section of tracks allotted for them. Their music appears in sections for other episodes.

After waiting for over Fifty years for this music on any format, here, at last it is, the sound track for the original nineteen sixties Jonny Quest television show. It's worth the long, long wait! Packaged in a two disk jewel case, with lavish illustrations from the television show, a twenty four page booklet, featuring liner notes, and listing of each sound track, and an interesting historical account of the creation of one of the best, if not THE best animated television shows, and soundtrack. Watched Jonny Quest since the sixty four, sixty five television season, got the entire original season on DVD, but finally, at last, now the sound track, on a crisp, clear, CD. Listen to Hoyt Curtin 's and Ted Nichols' sound track and enjoy the great jazzy, big band sound of Jonny Quest on CD at last. This is a limited release, so if you want a copy, don't hesitate to purchase a copy right away. Don't miss out.

When I was kid, this was the coolest cartoon on Saturday mornings. I know the show was originally a primetime series, but I was not born yet. So, the icing on the cartoon cake for me was the music. Indelibly etched in my brain. I have waited so long for this soundtrack. I understand that there was a limited pressing of this product and it's pricey. So... why did they not take time to MASTER IT BETTER? I have several scores from movies of the sixties and seventies and the mastering of those discs is so meticulous that you can practically smell the vinyl as though you were playing an LP. Those discs make my speakers LIGHT UP AND DANCE! I love the Jonny Quest Score. I love the packaging. I love the liner notes. There is stereo in the mix, but the MASTERING is lacking.

Every bit of the pulse pounding excitement came flooding back as I listened to each track! Suddenly, I was a 7 year old boy again! The quality was beyond expectations and I have yet to stop listening to it. This was one of the best music purchases I've ever made and I think it is worth every nickel.Every cue brought back a visual! From Race fighting Sumi in "Dragons of Ashida" to the speedboat chase in "The Mystery of the Lizard Men," it was all there. Thank you so much for making this available so that an old fart like me can feel like a kid again!

It's nice to finally hear this music without dialogue or effects covering it up. This sounds like a transfer from the original studio master tapes without a lot of tweaking by an overzealous "restoration" team which in my book is a positive. You're hearing the original masters, not some one's idea of what they should sound like.

there is not a person, who has seen JQ that does not want this music. this is the holy grail of jazzy sound tracks. it will stir memories of watching the show as a kid, and beyond. I have been looking for this for a while, just kind of stumbled on to it. I am so happy that they finally released this material it is a pure joy to listen to. Having the original tapes, the fidelity is wonderful. the sound quality varies a little from tract to tract, only a little, and not worth complaining about. just having this wonderful music in my collection is special
