This unit is fantastic.. Highly Recommend
Great for Studio/Live Preformance when using a Tripod... I use it in Church and anytime I am on a Tripod... Nice thing is I do not have to reach to the top of the camera to make adjustments.... The zoom control is smooth, variable speed. It has a disable switch on the side... If you accidentally hit it, well it stops working.. DUH... But set to disable that way some idiot won't walk by and change your settings... I highly recommend this unit. I only gave this unit 5 stars because there were not any more to give! :)

Does NOT work with Canon camcorders but works with an old Sony
The instruction says it should work with Canon camcorders with 2.5mm remote terminals. I tried it with 3 Canon camcorders: a XA30, a HF G30 and a HF S30, all of which have remote terminals but none works with this remote. As a test, I tried it with a 20-yo Sony Handycam I had, and it worked. Not sure why is this not compatible with Canon models.

The Best Tool for getting Smooth Zooms out of your Camcorder
This is a "Must Have" if your are using your camcorder on a tripod and want smooth, silk-like zooms. The remote includes a record On-Off button. I have added a second camcorder to my set up and so this is my second purchase. This device sells elsewhere for much more money

Very cheaply built
The side port that you plug into is very very fragile. We have had two break making them useless. I wouldn’t buy another one. It works fine but won’t last long.

Died today while filming. Just quit. At first it would not stop recording mode then it would do nothing.

The controller is touch sensitive and very smooth at zooming
The connection to plug in the cable broke off from the circuit board after the first day of use. Now it’s rattling around loose inside of the zoom controller. Fortunately there is a second input for the controller. Other than that it is an excellent value for the money spent. It’s very smooth. At that low price I bought two if I wanted to I could fire up the soldering iron and fix it. But you shouldn’t have to repair something brand new
