Flatiron Pepper Co - Dark & Smoky

It's Smokey. It's actually got some legit heat to it. But best of all, it's got flavor. It's delicious and smells great. There's something refined about it. But approachable. This works on pizza obviously, but this blend also works famously on fried eggs, buttery turkey burgers, crispy salads, gooopy as hell stroganoff, & of course latin foods that you base-a-grab-of-meat with corn tortillas. On soft Turkish or Italian meatballs, this is a secret ingredient when you have fresh ricotta and a basil-heavy red sauce. Dash this in a whipped soft cheese for a punch! Also, it's quite a good flavor pop when added to olive oil for dunking warm steamy sourdough in. This even works on tilapia (which I know some people love, and yet other dispute it's worth as a catch, but this works excellent on that fish in a blackened dry rub.) I was traveling in the upper US when I found this stuff at a pizza joint. I immediate went on the net and bought a ton of it to have at home. I wish more places here where I live had this on their tables as a spice option. It's great stuff. Also the green blend is equally superb as well. Something I also use constantly in cooking. Anyway, this spice company gets it. I'm glad they exist.

I bought the 3-pack: Dark n Smokey, Green Hatch blend, and 4-pepper blend. Wow these pepper flakes pack a punch! And so flavorful! Way surpass the generic red pepper flakes you'd normally get - which don't get me wrong, I love those too. But if you want something extra, just an extra flavor and definite spice-up, these are fantastic. A bit more pricey than standard but well worth it. If you wanna kick it up a notch, or just step up your game for your next pizza party, you can't do better!

I tried this on a slice of pizza at my local pizza place, Slyce. It was so good that I couldn't stop thinking about it and ordered my own. It's got a great umami, smoky, slightly spicy flavor that brings out the best in pizza, burgers, and even mashed potatoes and gravy (as we tried for Thanksgiving). Highly recommend! Will be buying regularly.
