Matching Supply with Demand: An Introduction to Operations Management

I utilized this book in one of the best operations courses I've taken during my Full-time MBA program here at the University of Georgia. The book is very insightful and provides numerous examples to explain the teaching points. The graphics leave little to be desired and the inside has an "old" textbook look to it with a lot of black and white and shades of gray. A little color would go a long way in redesigning the image of the book. I think the complicated content of this resource would have been a little easier to digest if it didn't pain me to spend time with all the drab colored pages. Overall though, I was quite satisfied with the book and it was certainly worth the expense. Be ready to work when you have to purchase this book for a class.

Used this as the basis for a supply chain management (MBA-level) class. Reads easy and has a good layout of the topics. It may go without saying, but a solid foundation in statistics is needed to get the most out of the material.

The bookstore make a return because the book is out of stock. While the textbook is what I need in an emergence because I still have homework to do on it, which has made me embarassing and I had to get another one in a minute with a much higher price.

At first I was sceptical when I saw that the book had only 500 pages but by the time I was halfway through it I realised that the authors had applied applied their expertise to this opus. This book will suit a first course in operations management, the text is as lean as it can get, the mathematical treatment is kept to its minimum and the text concentrates on the key concepts. The book has an agreeable layout with loads of white space and the book is full of examples and case studies. Each chapter features:* a few summary exhibits presenting in a concise way the concept treated* suggestions for further reading* a dozen of practice problems and among them, at least one has a fully worked solution at the back of the book and at least one has a fully worked solution available on Youtube ( accessible from companion website[...])I quite enjoyed reading the book but more importantly I believe I am now better equipped to carry out process and operations analysis and I owe this to this book. In my opinion this book lacks a single feature and that is a nomenclature with all symbols (it is minor anyway).This is the brief table of contents:1. Introduction2. It is a decent book for MBA and those reading introductory courses in OM area. Some of the chapter end problems have solutions also provided at the end. Go for it.
