I do not know the history of their technical development nor of their sociological significance across various cultures. These are potholders, they were inexpensive, and they work just fine. So I am 100% happy with them and give them 5 stars.

These won’t last long ...

These silver pot holders stuck to the hot rack as I pulled it from the hot oven. Peeled away easily enough but left a sticky residue on the pot holders.
