I’ve used a few rice cookers over the years, and this TOSHIBA Rice Cooker & Steamer 5.5 Cup is one of those appliances that just makes life easier. First off, it’s incredibly simple to use. One button, no guessing, and the rice comes out consistently good every time—fluffy, not sticky, and not dried out. That alone makes it worth it if you’re cooking rice regularly. The size is perfect too. The 5.5 cup capacity (uncooked) is more than enough for a family meal or even meal prepping for a few days. I’ve also used it for oatmeal and soups, and it handles both without any issues. The non-stick inner pot is a big plus. Cleanup is quick, nothing sticks, and it still looks good after multiple uses. The steaming basket is a nice bonus—I’ve steamed veggies while the rice cooks, which saves time and keeps things simple. The keep warm function works well without overcooking the rice, which is something cheaper cookers struggle with. If I had to point out anything, it’s that it’s more of a basic cooker, no advanced settings or fancy features. But honestly, that’s kind of the point. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well. Overall, if you want something reliable, easy to use, and consistent, this is a great pick.

I bought this rice cooker for my boyfriend he's Asian he make and eat jasmine rice every day I loved this Rice cooker it is the best I ever bought it made the rice fast and it came so good nice and fluffy and moist I bought other rice cookers but none as good as this one highly recommend this RIce maker it's easy and I love the silver out side very nice looking rice cooker the price was good it proves you don't need a real expensive machine to get the best Rice ever so I love and recommend THIS TOSHIBA RICE MAKER the size is good too it came fast delivery too LOVE THIS PRODUCT 😀 😋

This is a really good product for the price. I do wish it has some other settings but as little as I paid for it, it’s a good deal. I really love sweet sticky rice and I’ve already tried using that rice with this cooker and it came out. Absolutely perfect. Also use as a steamer, but it does take a while for the water to get boiling.

I only used it once to cook steel cut oats, so I can't speak to other grains. I didn't time it but it felt like it took a long time to cook 2 cups. Why didn't I time it? It is so poorly designed that there's no alert when it goes from cook to warm. So I'd have to watch it to know when it's done. My Zojirushi at least made a noise when the switch flipped, so I could hear it in my office around the the corner from the kitchen. Irritating and frankly, abysmally stupid. Even stupider: the ON light for both cook and warm functions is barely visible. How hard is it to make that design feature user-friendly? I'm flabbergasted by it's completely INADEQUATE design. Simple? Yes. Too simple? Yes. Simple-Minded? YES! I bought it to replace my Zojirushi which boiled over twice. Bought a fancy one that claimed to do way more things than I wanted or needed, including types of rice I've never even heard of, with an incomprehensible, poorly translated instruction manual. That's getting returned, as is this one. Overly complicated, obscenely expensive machines vs. overly simple and inadequately designed ones. PS if you're still interested in buying this model, it did manage to cook the oats OK, a bit runny. I didn't leave it on warm long because I just wanted to eat at that point. Oh, regarding cleaning it. The pot's a no-brainer. What's absurd is, lid isn't detachable so good luck with that.

My 6-year-old old rice cooker was clearly dying, but when I started searching for a replacement, I was stunned to find that some of them are over $200!! For a rice cooker??? The high-end pricey ones include too many buttons and "fuzzy logic." They almost look and function like a multi-function instant pot. Unless it can make fancy cocktails, too, then NO! I just wanted something that would let me add rice, water, salt, then press a button and have it tell me when the rice is perfectly done. This does that, extremely well and for an entirely reasonable price. Toshiba is a highly rated brand, so I trust that this will work well for many years.

I love this Toshiba rice cooker/ steamer.. I seem to use the steamer a lot for shrimp and vegetables.. so quick and easy.. makes delicious rice too. Highly recommend.

Basic. Easy to use. No 10 multi options. Just put in rice and water and hit the cook button. Simple and easy.
