Handle extension feature is easy to use. Plenty rugged. Grips are comfortable. This seems to be a good balance of weight, function, and cutting ability.

Superior product
All-in-all this lopper is superior to the ones I found in the big box stores. The compound action allows the user to cut with less force than single hinge-point models. That's a plus anytime, but when you're 85 like I am, it's even more desirable. The extension handles are, I believe, unique to this tool, and that feature is really handy. It has saved me from getting out a step ladder twice already. However, when you extend the handles all the way, you need a wing span like a condor, but that's OK with me. I did find two of the locknuts were not tightened properly. One was only assembled half way to its desinged position. I would also recommend that you apply grease or a heavy weight oil to all pivot points before use. This recommendation would be made for any pivoting tool. It just makes good sense to help a tool give you the longest life it can.

Worked Amazing For Me
I've seen a few bad reviews for these particular loppers online. Many people have had complaints of them bending or breaking. That is completely not the case in my experience. I've definitely found these to be a five star product. My honey and I bought a homestead this fall. Most of the back of the home was covered in thick alder trees. Beautiful as they were- they also invited bears into our yard without us even being able to see them. The trees had to go. My honey sawed with a power saw and I did the final landscaping with these wonderful loppers.I like to consider myself a strong girl, but I'm probably not as strong as I think I am. My muscles are about average to most women's. So needless to say I can't bust tree branches with a pair of scissors... unless it's this pair of scissors. I was literally amazed how easy these were to use! I went around our yard chopping off small to medium sized branches from trees that were crowding too close to outbuildings. These things cut through branches like butter! Literally- it was as easy as taking a butter knife and cutting butter. I barely had to work (don't tell my honey that though- he still thinks I put some effort into making our yard look nice). They are extendable so I could reach higher branches without a stool or ladder (and on our lumpy ground neither is safe to stand on). Nothing on the handles lock them in place, so sometimes when you're chopping they'll move. This wasn't a huge issue for me- but I could see how for some people it would be frustrating. There are foam coverings on the handles, which makes them very comfortable to use for long periods of time. I've used these multiple times and never gotten blisters (even after a few hours of work). They're sized for fairly small branches. They weren't made to chop down huge trees. Basically for small shrubbery and smaller breeds of trees (alder, willow, fruit trees). I wouldn't recommend them for most hardwoods. They're not extremely tough. They did cut through my alder okay, but I can't imagine them breaking through larger hardwood species. The cutting part is made from a straight edge and a curved edge. This is nice because you can ensure you're cutting the branch you want to cut by wrapping it with the curved edge and then sawing it down with the straight edge. The cuts it leaves are nice. It can cut straight across or at an angle. Kids play in our yard so I tried to leave mostly straight edges instead of diagonal sharp slopes they could fall on. These always did a good job of getting the cut I wanted.Overall I am so happy with these and am disappointed to see them be discontinued by the manufacturer. I loved my pair and would buy them again if I could find them.

VERY happy with this
VERY happy with this. I have an older Sears model which is very similar in its construct. Tried the Fiskars because I couldn't get another Sears (I suspect Fiskars made the Sears one years ago). This one is better in the construction for the grommet used in the 'slide' (between the blades). Very durable. I like the extendable arms - have used it both in short and long configs - both work very well. Easy to use.

Really great tool
Only thing is I wish it was less heavy. Kind of heavy.

Used a good bit already and they seem to cut good.

The loppers I deserved!
These are fantastic. I have purchased tow cheaper loppers in the past. One was even the same brand. But this is a heavy duty set that will last me many years. And the extension handles are awesome, very smooth and lock tight.

Sturdy and strong!
Best... Loppers... EVER!!! I actually have had a pair of these for a few years now, and just bought a new pair for a family member who constantly borrows mine (because of how awesome these are). I LOVE these. The handles are extendable, and the clamps make sure there is no accidental retracting while using it (as sometimes happens to me with ones that twist instead of clamp). They are easier to store with the relatively short handles, but the ability to extend them so easily gives you LOTS of extra leverage when cutting through thick branches. I have found that pretty much, if I can get the branch between the blades, these will cut through it. I am easily able to cut back tree branches with these things. Highly recommended!
