My grandmother always had a rug in progress on her hobby table. As a child I was fascinated with her creations, all the more as she had been severely crippled with a stroke in her midlife. She learned to do all kinds of things with only one hand. This was one of her favorite hobbies. A useful one, too. My grandparents were simple farm folks and her lovely hooked rugs added color and variety to her home. Hooking a rug is on my bucket list.I have not yet read the whole book, but the illustrations are really nice and it is intelligently written. The first part is dedicated to the works of specific artists and I am enjoying that part.Since my funds are limited, I have been shopping at thrift shops for yarns (and I have found a plethora of hooks).This book would make a nice gift for anyone interested in learning useful and fun hobbies. I'm thinking that once I get started, I will introduce my pre-teen granddaughters to this useful and fun art form.

I really like this book. My Grandma made hooked rugs using strips of old wool suits and such. These look very similar to hers and my sister and I are planning to try this out. I really wish I'd taken the time to learn how from her.But, I was lucky enough to inhereit one she was working on. The instructions look pretty clear. Didn't give 5 stars because I hadn't actually tried yet. But frankly even if I never do get around to making one of these - the designs are well worth the price.

Not as good as expected.

Excellent book , weather you are new to the craft or just want inspiration. Lots of clear instructions colour photos and highly recommend.

I like this book for the ideas that it gives and look forward to spending some time reading and attepting some of the rugs that are in the pictures
