Airwolf: Series 1

One of the Best shows of the 80s love it

Firstly well done for Fabulous for doing individual season releases. The full 3 season set was just too much for my bank balance so it's nice to have the option of the individual season releases.For any youngsters out there (under 35) Airwolf was an action adventure series during the 80's which was one of a series of shows that exploited the power of the machine. It and Knight Rider were probably the best example. A fad that died in the mid 80's so we were spared "Tales of the Space Hopper" or "Chopper the Wilderness years."So how does the "restoration" fare. Surprising very well. It's clear that the show has been remastered from the surviving 35mm prints and not just an upgrade. Proper colour grading, scratches, damage have all been cleaned up with the result that the show looks as if it was shot yesterday.I've been reading people griping about it not being widescreen. Why would you want it in widescreen?. Firstly HD is to do with the amount of information stored in that format and it can be any aspect ratio you want. Academy, 1:66:1, 2:50:1, whatever you want. Airwolf was filmed at a time when widescreen was not or even a consideration for TV broadcasts.Thankfully the original and only aspect ratio 4/3 has been left alone for this release. No World at War fiasco here.There has been thankfully no noise reduction tools used with the result the grain is left intact and you can even see the difference in grain stock during some of the episodes.Could this restoration be improved?. Yes bar a 5.1 soundtrack, enhanced CGI and replacing stock shots, this is as good as it gets. It's not Star Trek so will ever get the Grade A treatment that particular franchise has been getting.Considering the amount of vintage shows out there to be released on HD, it's nice to see this classic 3 season get in there first.And lastly for Knight Rider fans Japan is releasing all five seasons in a deluxe box set in December.So rejoice that at the end of the year the best vehicle shows of the 80's will have got the HD treatment.Roger Shore

Did Airwolf fly onto our screens in 1984?1984 RULED....Ghostbusters,Gremlins,Purple Rain,Duran Duran.If it did not air then,forgive me but 1984 still rules.People were nice back then,there was no problems in the world,i was five...it was great.Airwolf Season One contains 11 episodes,including as the box describes it the "thrilling" two hour pilot.Whats great about Airwolf?Everyone falls into laughter at the end credits.The beautiful use of stock footage.The dodgy accents.Ahhh....the credits... enough to make the hardest thirty something get moist from his tearducts.Favourite episode?Echoes From The Past,The Jan wakes up from a coma a year after an accident,Or has he?Jan Micheal Vincent is a legend.This is pure 80s tv acting,the art was perfectly described by Joey from Friends that in momments of tension imagine you have smelt a fart.Vincent does this devastatingly so.I adore the way Hawke the character badly mimes playing a cello,this is to convey the emotional conflict of Hawke.Reclusive,butch,sensitive,a man who has experienced loss.Its all in the eyes.And nostrils.Ernest Borgnine just laughs,his pudgy face contorted as he guffaws in the face of death,being chased or rolling on the floor.Airwolf.Get it,watch it,get the next season.I mean what else is there on to watch?Homelands.No thanks.

If you are like me and are getting old (in you 40's) and can remember this program being on the TV. You will probably enjoy watching the series again. I have to say not quite as good as I remember it from when I was young. My children quite enjoyed watching it with me, so can't be too dated.

What can you say about a series invented out of a pilot movie. Its absolutely awesome. Jan Micheal Vincent plays Stringfellow Hawke, pilot of the most powerful attack helicopter ever built by man, makes an Apache helicopter look like a vacuum cleaner. His friend and copilot Dominic Santini ( played by Ernest Borgnine, (RIP, you are sadly missed, the world lost a great personality )) join him on mission for themselves and the CIA. The whole set of episodes builds on the relationships between them all, making this one of the best initial 80's series ever made.Fun, Action, Emotion and a load of fun. Even my kids loike this series even if it is getting a bit dated now.

When I was young, I wanted to fly Airwolf. It was a great show in its time with a moody hero / anti hero, which made it different. The helicopter always got them out of the trouble they were in one way or another. Just very good entertainment. Well worth getting at this price for some nostalgia or to see a helicopter go inverted. At the time, coolest show on TV.

I have always loved Airwolf and now my grandchildren are into it! Yes, its a bit dated but still worth watching and the theme music is one of the best ever!

Sehr schnelle Lieferung, habe mich gefreut diese Serie wieder zu sehen. Es hat sich nichts geändert. Viel Spaß wieder beim Pilotfilm und die Anfänge von Airwolf zu sehen. Mich stört es nicht, das die Bilder mal aufgewertet hätten können. Schöne Kindheitserinnerungen wenn die Musik anfängt mit den Geräuschen von Airwolf.

La verdad esta muy bien el producto, una imagen bien nitida lo unico malo es que no trae audio o subtitulos en español.

Airwolf - TV Series - Season 1I hadn't seen this show since it was on in the 80's, and I decided to pick up a copy. For an 80's show, this one had high production values that allows it to stand up to some of today's standards. While at the same time having that 80's nostalgia factor. I enjoyed the show watching it all over again, I will most likely pick up the rest of the DVD sets as I can.
