TheSalonGuy CLUTCH XL Extreme Hold Matte Hair Clay 3.5 oz

I bought this because of all the hype around it and I was extremely happy when it came, and then i used it. I expected a good hold with a low shine, as it says on the box, but I really think it was meant for low volume hairstyles. My Thick straight hair doesnt work with it, if I use a dime sized amount, a decent hold that lasts 2 hours. But any more than that it becomes shiny and saturated, and white flakes start to come out. I expected better from this. I think other clays do a better job than this. The only good parts is that its 20 dollars for 3.5 oz, it smells amazing, and it washes out really easily, since its water based. But another clay that I like is Cavalier. Which is the best in my opinion.

Super high hold, great texture and arguably the best smelling hair product I have ever used and I am not even kidding. It also provides great control and the hold lasts all day even when it’s hot. I would say the finish is natural vs. totally matte, which is my preference.This stuff is super sticky with a lot of tug and pull when applying so I recommend applying to slightly damp/towel dried hair 👍🏼

I ordered the regular Clutch when I meant to order the XL. Return was super smooth.My experience with the Clutch XL..I was intrigued by all the hype on YouTube about it and how it had a superior hold compared to traditional clays.I have thick, wavy hair so I prefer traditional clays with high hold. Clutch didn’t hold longer than a couple hours, I work indoors in an office. This may be more suited for those with fine hair or shorter hair like it says on the description. It scoops out waxy, pasty and sticky. I was surprised by how strong it felt going into my hair though.It didn’t work for me, but if you have fine hair or thick straight hair or then this may work for you.

I have very wavy thick hair and cowlick sent from the devil himself. I have a combover hairstyle and this product does and amazing job at keeping it all together whether I have it short or long that hold last all day and night. Only downside is it doesn’t completely wash out, I didn’t mind it though.

This product does not work for me, who has longer hair, thick and coarse. I went from using cavalier clay, to trying this because of a review I saw from a YouTuber who has similar hair to me, TDM style. He specifically compared this to cavalier clay and claymation and gave clutch a glowing review.Not only did I have the opposite experience, but I'm skeptical about the authenticity of TDM styles review.

My husband has been on a quest for the perfect hair product for years and he tells me this is it! Very satisfied with this purchase and will continue to purchase.

Good hold but not stiff

So I had originally bought Clutch and thought it was amazing; the only thing it was missing was a higher hold because of my hair, which is about 5.5 to 6.5 inches long, so in turn the hairstyle wouldn't last all day. Clutch XL is exactly what I needed for an all day hold with the same Matte finish that the original clutch has, everything from the smell to the smooth breakdown in the hands is going to meet the needs of someone who is looking for a high hold-matte finish clay that will last all day and smell amazing.
