One of the best movies
If you need a pick me up, this is it! Laughs from beginning to end, one of my favorite movies!

This movie is hilarious. If you like odd quirky plots it's for you
Nothing to dislike. Some "situations" may not be suitable for children, but it's a short part of the movie. It's worth a good laugh!

Despite the hate, this is a particularly fun and enjoyable movie
Like many, I avoided this movie for many years based on the negative word-of-mouth that seemed to follow it; including from Larry David himself. I finally caught some of it on television not long ago, and while it definitely has its flaws, the movie remains fairly funny, fast-paced, full of Larry David-isms, and shows the interesting period between Larry David leaving Seinfeld and starting Curb Your Enthusiasm. The biggest problem lies with its stars. Both Steven Weber and Craig Bierko are talented actors but the movie seems unsure how to present them. Weber attempts to play the the Jerry Seinfeld-ish straight man, but this never makes complete sense as the movie paints has character as somewhat mean-spirited and petty instead of a neutral observer (as Jerry Seinfeld typically was). Bierko, on the other hand, has some of the movie's biggest laughs, but seems unsure whether he's playing the character as a Larry David-ish neurotic, or an over-the-top Kramer type character. That being said, the story, which involves two cousins entering a feud after Bierko wins a jackpot on a slot machine after Weber lends him two quarters, proceeds in typical David Pace: rapid-fire dialogue, observations of the seemingly unimportant aspects of life and interactions, and of course, multiple stories that, despite their unrelatedness, all mange to converge at the end of the film.Seinfeld tempered Larry David's caustic nature with perfect actors for the parts and more traditional sitcom tropes (no matter what Larry David or Jerry Seinfeld might say). Curb Your Enthusiasm shows David at his most vile, loathsome, and insensitive; somehow making him more likable for it. This movie proves to be a strange middle ground, with David taking much more sinister turns than Seinfeld took, but never truly going quite as far as David would go in just a few years.Despite this, the movie remains a must-see for any fan of Larry David, and I still strongly recommend it for anyone who has enjoyed any of Davids work.

Mostly predictable but mildly entertaining overall
Thies is an early work of Larry David. It is just OK. His later film and TV productions are really much, much better.

Typical Larry David- meh.
This movie is a distillation of all that's wrong with the work of Larry David. All the dialogue is unnatural. The characters are all just that- characters. No one is a person, with normal human behavior. And because of this, the conflict is as farfetched and contrived as those in Seinfeld or Curb. The doctor, who is no doubt very rich, begrudges his cousin a jackpot because he gave him the quarters to put in a slot machine. As always in LD's work, he chooses to be picayune, and ruins the friendship. None of this is funny! This movie plays just like a TV show where the writer ran out of ideas decades ago.

Masterpiece
Seinfeld the movie has already been made. If you're a fan of Larry David and haven't watched Sour Grapes, you are not a fan of Larry David

Ein früher Larry David
Der Film enthält schon viele Elemente, die man später in Curb youur enthusiasm wiederfindet. Letztlich ist es aber nur die Lightversion davon. Kann man gucken, muss man aber nicht.
