Oil leak fixed!! Must have tool.
Finished the rear main seal replacement about three weeks ago. 260,000 miles on the original seal. So far so good, it's bone dry under my truck. Tool was easy to use. The youtube video by SacCityCorvette provided great instructions. It was a tight fit on the end of the crank but I could rotate the tool with some force. I didn't lubricate the o ring on the tool itself, I wasn't really sure what type of "lube" to use. The rear main seal comes lubricated on the surface mating to the crankshaft so I didn't want to mix lubricates either without clear instructions (just cautious on my part, any lube would probably be fine). I did put a light coating of engine oil on the outer surface of the rear main seal per the instructions included in the gasket kit. Pulling the transmission in the driveway is a pain in the a$$ so why would you risk cover misalignment and an oil leak after the repair? You are saving thousands by doing the job yourself so why not spend a few bucks and get the right tool for the job...

used this tool to align the rear engine cover on my 6.0L 2003 chevy silerado 2500HD, installed rear cover with tool in place torqued all bolts to specs. then replaced the tool with rear engine seal in cover and over crankshaft.NO LEAKS!this product is worth purchasing.

The right tool for the job
This is a high quality well made tool. Replacing a rear crank seal is a big job. Replacing it without the right tools can make it a nightmare. Don’t risk having to redo the job. Get this tool and you know it’s right. This tool is well made and perfectly aligns the rear cover.

Do you like oil leaks? No, then BUY THIS ASAP.
Do you like tearing apart your brand new work? No you say? Good, then pick this bad boy up, because it will align your LS rear cover with ease. SacCityCorvette even has youtube vids to show you how to use both this one and the front alignment cover. GREAT product, pricey but very worth it.NOTE: This style is designed to install the seal AFTER you install the cover. Not for covers that have the seal installed. (Although they do offer a style to do that).

Worth the money used on 2002 5.3 vortex
Pretty good tool, heard if you don't use it you can offset the cover wrong and cause the gasket to leak. Didnt want to take the risk so I paid the price, I have multiple motors so it'll come in handy. Make sure you oil or grease up the tool before you press it in, makes it easier for removal n pressing the seal. Used on a 5.3 vortex from a 2002 yukon, will eventually do my ls1 5.7L
