Great box set!!!!! Some classic movies by one of the great actors!!!!!!!!!! One of the only actors I can watch gain and again,

Clint has made so many great films and these are a great selection

I love Clint Eastwood as an actor and bought this box set because there were some I had never seen or only a long time ago. It has to be said that time has passed and not been kindly to some of them. Where Eagles Dare is overlong and at times ludicrous - Clint kills off at least a regiment of faceless Germans all on his own. Heartbreak Ridge is a good performance but the pro-US military stance is unpleasant with hindsight. City Heat is just silly; though it is not intended to be serious I can't enjoy Burt.

Hmm . . . this collection (or assortment rather) certainly is mixed. I'm not even sure how or why these five films were selected to be put together in the first place, as they certainly don't resemble each other at all. Also none of them rate as either classic films or Eastwood's most popular work (unless you're a very big fan of Where Eagles Dare, which I'm not personally). However, it has a few plus points for me:1. White Hunter Black Heart is almost impossible to find on Region 2 DVD - I tried finding it as a separate DVD and didn't get anywhere. So I'm very glad I found it on this set because I watched it last week and it did so much for me. A few scenes have some terrific and highly memorable dialogue which can make it a worthwhile watch. The end image is beautiful too. It may not be the most perfect film, due to occasional patchy editing and a few daft lines here and there, but I recommend it highly. Stick with it because although Eastwood is slightly wooden and unconvincing at first his performance gets better in the last half.2. Heartbreak Ridge is the funniest latently gay movie ever made, next to Top Gun. But seriously, Eastwood's performance is great.3. Hey, what can I say, I like Clint Eastwood. So this buy was perfect!Some down points:1. Pink Cadillac is just BAD. I watched the first three quarters before realising I couldn't care less how it finished and switched off. Don't watch.2. You don't get individual DVD cases for these discs, it has one of those fussy foldout designs. A bit annoying but no big deal I guess.3. No classics here, so don't buy this if you've never watched Eastwood films before and want to see him at his best. There are plenty of other wonderful collections to try before you get to this one. If you've watched all his classics already (well known or not well known) and want to go further, this is ok.Overall it's a bag of oddities, but if you're a diehard Clint fan who has seen almost everything Eastwoodian by now and you crave more, this is for you.

Not my kind of thing, but it is his, so I haven't watched it, it seems to be on telly most Christmasses, but he needs a more frequent fix.Since I can virtually quote the thing word for word, and I'm sure he can, I tend to let him get on with it whilst I do something more interesting like watching paint dry.....
