Great tribute to Mega Man X
The media could not be loaded. Mega Man X: Official Complete Works is actually a half of the 336-page Japanese art book "R20" which was published in March 2008 to celebrate Mega Man's 20th anniversary. It's nice to have Capcom translate the book into English. The other half is Mega Man: Official Complete Works This book retains the paperback format, low gloss pages and layout. The cover has a glossy embossed Mega Man X printed against a matte cover. It's very beautiful and X pops out nicely. This book has 144 pages compared to the Mega Man volume which has 200 pages. There are both good and bad in releasing the original book as two volumes in English. The bad, of course, is the higher price. The good is the it's thinner and more friendly to the book spine. By comparison, my 320-page " SF20: The Art of Street Fighter ", also from Capcom, has slight creases when I open the book wide. The art inside is arranged by chronological order. The book is filled with colourful character designs, sketches and illustrations from game covers, manga and other merchandise. The variety is amazing. The pages are packed with so many versions of powered up Mega Man X, the bosses and enemies. The designs are beautiful and detailed. I've never actually played Mega Man X before so this book isn't as nostalgic as the other volume, but whatever you can think of is probably found in this book.Accompanying the designs are lots of quotes from the Japanese artists. They talk about the characters, ideas, and you can gain some interesting insight into their working environment. There are 8 artists doing the designs and they are Ryuji Higurashi, Hayato Kaji, Keisuke Mizuno, Tatsuya Yoshikawa, Shinsuke Komaki, Haruki Suetsugu, Sho Tsuge and Yoshihisa Tsuda. This book is a great tribute to the Mega Man X franchise, highly recommended to all fans.If you like this book, check out Mega Man: Official Complete Works also. The full list of game titles included are: * Mega Man X to X8 * Mega Man Xtreme * Mega Man Xtreme 2 * Mega Man X: Command Mission * Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X(More pictures are available on my blog. The condition it came in is great!
I've been trying to get this book new for a while now but after so many failed attempts I decided to try getting this used copy and it's in great shape.

If you are an X and zero fan this is a must buy.
They put a lot of love into this artbook. Which is odd, given how the director and others gave up on this franchise since X6. The art directors have snippets of information and old sketches here and there. They even have a plethora of info for X7, X8, Command Mission and a trading card game. There's also a fascinating and sad observation in this with how much love x1, x2 and x4 had put into them and watching the Capcom trend of churning out soulless sequels and the teams working their best to make a game in less than a year between. Also hilarious with the backstory of the American translator team turning all the boss names in X5 into guns and roses references.

The book for any Mega Man X fan!
I've been a Mega Man fan since the Nintendo days, but I became a HUGE Mega Man fan once I played Mega Man X on the SNES! This book gives lots of info on the series direct from it's creators! It's full of cool facts, amazing art both concept and final artworks used in the game, and pretty much everything else you could ask for involving the 'X' series! I love it!This book MUST be in the collection of any Mega Man fan (X series or even of the original series), so buy it for yourself or knock a friend or family member whose a fan of the games off their feet with it as a gift!

It started with the SNES
Aside from playing the collection game, this helps me bring back the good old days. I like the fact there are so many art styles in there too.

A must-own book for fans of the X series
As with the other Complete Works, the Mega Man X Official Complete Works book is another must-own for any fans of the franchise.Similar to the classic series' book, the front cover features a multitude of artwork portraying X and his friends, along with certain Mavericks (and a surprise shot of Wily!) in different ways and types of artwork. The back cover shows X and Zero in front of characters reminiscent of X5 and X6. I've had the book for now nearly 10 years and it is still living up it up as it was new, with a slight, if even noticeable, discoloration on the edges of the covers.Totaling 144 pages, the content seen in the previous entry (Mega Man Complete Works) is back again for the X series. Artwork, images, descriptions, early sketches are all present. They span across several titles of the franchise, from X all the way to X8, and once again they did not forget lesser known entries such as Command Mission, Xtreme 1 & 2, or Maverick Hunter X.Alongside the artwork are, once again, a multitude of notes from the development team, allowing a more in-depth view of the series and franchise as a whole. This is definitely a must-own for all of the information it provides.
