The better option is to make your own adjustable rod between transfer case and shifter
The bushing seated properly in the transfer case linkage piece but the bushing would not seat when installing in the shifter linkage arm. Upon removal, the bushing launched up into the underside of the truck. So, the better option, is to make you own adjustable rod that connects the two with an aluminum turnbuckle and a series of washers and bolts. Parts were roughly $14 at the hardware store and the shifting is more firm and this will never wear out like the rubber bushings do.

Fits 2005 Ram 2500 Diesel
While Amazon claims this will not fit a 2005 Ram 2500 Diesel... it will. Tools you will need for installation: Vice grip, WD40, clear glasses, and a few beers.Step 1. Apply liberal amounts of WD40 to the rubber grommet and the receiver hole at the end of the shift lever. Make sure you install the grommet in the proper direction.Step 2. Insert the adjustable connecting rod into the grommet once it is properly seated in the shift lever. Use the vice grip to accomplish this.Step 3. Enjoy a beer and test the function of your repair! This took me approximately 15 minutes to accomplish during Dec in MN. I hope this helps someone.

It took a crow bar to put in rubber bushing
No joke about the crowbar. I worked and worked. Soaped up the rubber grommet. Tried pliers. Didn't work. Got a crowbar wedged in the frame and popped it in with great difficulty. That was one end. Tried everything I did on the first one. No success. Finally took a knife and and started shaving parts off of the grommet. Finally got it in. Had to use pliers to squeeze the thickness down so the spring clip could be installed. Everything about it was miserable. The other option was to pay $37 for (2) 3 penny pieces of rubber from a nationwide parts house. Are they trying to make us go crazy or, or they really that crazy.

Good replacement much cheaper than O.E.M.
Easy to install if you are lucky enough, as I was, to not lose the linkage when the old ones fail. Definitely a poor design by Dodge but an easy fix. Unless you it happens when you are deep in mud or snow when they fail.

As advertised, simple install, simple fix
Just what I needed, though stupid manufacturer design to have a plastic part holding 4wd shifter stick to linkage. Easy install, make sure you put it in correct orientation, I used WD-40 on it, & popped in w fingers though a bit of strength needed. Pliers could have helped. A bit pricey for plastic piece. No C clip required, actually not enough room to install one, though a sleeve & clip would be ideal design.

Crumbled
Not sure if they sat on a shelf too long somewhere and dry rotted or what, but here in Michigan it gets cold and it wasn’t very cold but snowy and I only got a few shifts out of these before my linkage was inoperable. Got underneath to find a few pieces remaining from a crumbled grommet. Need some with more rubber content I guess.

Ram Transfer Case Shifter Bushings
These appear to be less brittle than stock so hopefully they will last longer. I used 3 sets of stock ones in the 16 years I've owned my truck

Easy install: Shifter linkage is held in tight.
After 16 years rubber falls apart. This replacement bushing is just what it is, push it in the whole place shifter rod back in it.
