RentACoop 10x10” Adjustable Heating Plate with Foldable Anti-Roost Cone

I’ve raised chickens, ducks, and guineas under this heating plate, and now I’ve used it for my tiny button quail too. Everyone has done wonderfully with it! It provides consistent warmth, is easy to set up, and has worked across multiple types and sizes of poultry. I’m obsessed and will absolutely be buying more. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My chicks used this from the start and they stayed warm, happy and healthy. The biggest benefit in using this for me was peace of mind knowing that it was safe and not a fire hazard. They also liked to sit on top and use it as a roost which for me seemed like a side benefit. We just put press n seal wrap on top to keep clean and changed it daily. The plate we purchased is on the smaller side. I think it can technically be used with up to 10 chicks but I have 6 chicks who are larger breeds and I felt by the time they were 4 weeks or so they were really crowded. I definitely would go up to the next size plate if I had to do it over again.

Very easy to set up. Adjusting the temp by raising the plate was very easy. We kept it an angle, low in back, higher in front to give the chicks a choice - more heat or less heat. 7 chicks fit easily under it. It got tight after 4 weeks as they grew, but by then they hardly needed it.

Worked great for the baby chickens. They did out grow it really fast but that’s more on my end. Great product for baby chicks. And way cheaper than a heat lamp bulb on your electric bill

We are raising chicks for the first time and wanted to use a brooder plate instead of a heat lamp because of safety concerns. We chose this one because the brand is well-recognized and the added no-roost top meant we wouldn't need to worry about the chicks getting on top. Within a week, our chicks were already trying to get on top and slipping off, so it has already proven useful and effective! There are enough 1/4" settings on all four legs to really adjust as you go. We have chicks that are 1.5 weeks apart, and it isn't an issue since we can set one side higher than the other. The disadvantage is that it is harder to really know if it is hot enough for chicks - especially ones that arrive in the mail and are a lot more fragile. I noticed that they were spending a lot of time under the brooder plate and I was worried they weren't warm enough. Additionally, you can't see the chicks when they are under it, so if any are struggling, you have to lift it to check on them. I added a plant heat mat underneath to add just a touch of heat the first week. I noticed the chicks were more active after so I do think that helped.

We were delighted to find the chick heater available so inexpensive. And best of all, it works so much better and safer, than a heat lamp! It’s been rocking along for a month now, and the chicks are growing daily. T has been very easy to raise it up as they grow. Previous chicks have kept us awake chirping. Not anymore! The snuggle down under the heater and don’t say a word until morning!

I am a new chick mom, and a worry wort. We obtained our first dozen chicks during the summer and lost 2 of them to heat stroke (I believe). So the little ones moved inside (residing in a galvanized water tank in my free standing tub- spoiled!!) and I was worried they would be too cold. We used a space heater fan to keep the chill off of them. However, there was going to be a huge temperature swing, 90 degrees one day, 30 the next (we live in Colorado- this happens every year!) and I was so worried about them getting too cold. bought this heating plate for the girls and they just LOVED it!! It was easier to put 10 chicks to bed than my 2 young boys!! They shared the unit quite well, just their heads stuck out a little bit. As they grew- they loved to sit (and poo) on top- but it is so easy to clean the plate a few times a day (they were still in my bathtub!). We then obtained another 6 pack, as the weather began to cool- and I became paranoid that they would freeze. Again, chicks in my bathtub, this heater unit a permanent resident, and the chicks were comfy and warm. I asked my husband how they had chickens (as he was a child) without this thing!?!?! He replied, they had moms! (HAHAHA- Touche'!!) I could not be happier and would recommend this unit to all worry worts!

Very disappointed with the red roof piece. Made of very cheap corrugated plastic that seems like it was just bent into a shape. Pictures in AD show it looking like solid plastic. Roof is basically junk.
