Amazing - facinating
Found this series by accident, and totally hooked! The team are so talented mending/fixing the precious items the public leave with them. So far i've watch the whole box set once, but i've not made it through the titles without shedding a tear, or through several episodes sobbing at the end - love it! highlight recommended for anyone interested in antiques, family history, interesting stories from normal people or the craftmanship of truely skilled people you never realised were still out there!

So very real and full of life
I saw an episode on TV and went to buy the DVD, only to find it was not ready to be sold. So ordered it and got on with my life. Then one day, through the letterbox it came! What a wonderful DVD, though you get 3 in the box. :-)Wonderful quality and must be one of the best of it's subject. Totally amazing and so very real and full of life. All the pieces fitted together. The Customers, Repairers, Narrator, and Place of Work. That what they do is important can be clearly seen in the gratitude shown by the Customers. Well done the Producers for the quality of the Episodes and the absence of a "Celebrity Presenter". The content is of such quality to be able to stand alone with just the warm voice of Bill Paterson in the background when needed.

The Pleasure of Watching Skilled Craftspeople Apply Their Talents
It would be impossible for me to recommend this any higher. Watching real people react to seeing a treasured piece of personal or family history restored by craftspeople who know their business and genuinely care about the piece and the people it has meaning for is truly beautiful. In a time when we replace virtually anything and everything that fails or breaks, it is nice to see people value not only an item's function but its history and legacy. Nicer still to see that history preserved and restored before our eyes.More than a few happily teary moments too. Great family viewing.

not enough of the interesting parts.
i hadn't seen the series on tv and i can see what other reviewers meant by the front man. i did find he distracted attention and i thought their would have been more to see if he hadn't been popping in and out of view. i would have liked to see more of the crafts people at work, and it did feel to me at times like it was very carefully scripted and planned, lacking in spontaneity. i will watch it all the way through, but i won't bother to keep it.

One for the "good guys and gals."
It's lovely to see the "good guys and gals" winning repeatedly. Afraid that the series might be removed from our TV screen we ordered the DVD to capture all the good feelings which emanate from this show.I must praise Jaye, the "gaffer", who has the essentials of good person management. Knowing his team well his mixture of assuring, encouraging, challenging and admitting his own shortcomings in some areas make him a most likeable real person. As a battered, aged and now long retired rugby player I'll openly admit welling up at times as the Repair Shop staff reveal their skills and successes to their grateful and delighted clients.Amidst the hailstorms of our current political climate may the show go on showing how well-intentioned people are better than striving politicians.

Excellent viewing.
I've given this DVD 5 stars because of the excellent experts who are some of the most talented people on tv but there is one fly in the ointment, the presenter is very annoying, he interrupts the experts and it takes a lot to explain to him what they are doing , I'm afraid he spoils the flow of the program , otherwise it is well worth buying .Don't let Mr Blades the presenter put you off .

A celebration of craftmanship
A complete reversal of the modern trend of everyday objects being scrapped rather than repaired and an acknowledgement that true craftsmanship can live on. The Repair Shop staff clearly love their work and are eagerto share this enjoyment with the people who submit their treasured items.
