For fans of The Day the Crayons Quit , Little Pea , or How Are You Peeling? Whatโs a little piece of bread to do when heโs feeling lonely? Find a friend, of course! And thatโs exactly what Peanut Butter tries to do. But sometimes friends are hard to come by, especially when Hamburger has to walk his (hot) dogs, Cupcake is too busy building castles in her sprinkle box, and Egg laughs so hard he starts to crack up! Does Peanut Butter have a soulmate? Young readers will know the answer long before Peanut Butter does and laugh along with each mismatched pairing. In a story that pairs silliness with poignancy, and friendship with anthropomorphic food, Terry Border, the photography mastermind behind the Bent Objects project, makes a triumphant entrance into the children's book world. Complete with a rhyming refrain, this is sure to be a favorite family read-aloud--and laugh-aloud. Praise for PEANUT BUTTER & CUPCAKE "Borderโs witty food comedy will lure children who are hungry for clever visual entertainment."-- Publishers Weekly "[T]he creatively zany photographs...will make this a read-aloud hit."-- School Library Journal "This book would be a great read-aloud on friendship and food."-- Library Media Connection Review: Super cute and fun to read - As an experienced mom, Iโve learned that there are some books that my kids like to hear that I hate to read, and some books that I like to read that they donโt love. This book sits in that magical place in the middle. It has a fun rhyme thatโs not too cloyingly annoying with enough going on that I like to read it. Itโs a great little book for bedtime if youโre a parent who aims for a fast bedtime routine (probably a 5 min read or so) Review: An Instant Favorite - We absolutely love this book in our home, The pictures in this book are not drawings, they are photos of actual items that have been posed/staged within a miniature set. The scenes throughout this book are admirable, funny, whimsical, creative, and unique. My daughter said, "Papa, how did they get that piece of Peanut Butter Toast to kick that soccer ball?" "Creativity, I guess they wanted to see that happen so they just created it and made it happen" I replied The story is very enjoyable, cute, and has a good message. The flow & rhythm makes it fun and easy to read and for children to listen to, as one of the reviewers said, "it is a read aloud hit"

Great specifically for preschool teachers
With kids when you're one on one with them you can pick a book that's a little more complicated with more twists and turns Kids get very stressed out in groups and when coming to a circle time after stopping playing (it's called a transition) and so the repetition and simplicity of this book is perfect. It helps kids calm down and understand what's happening. A literal triumph of a book as far as books to read in a school setting. Amazing, amazing book. Major kudos to the author. Really nailed it. I'm so impressed. Love this book. Love it. Fun pics too

Kindergarteners love it. Good steps about not giving up when kids reject you
I read this to my kindergarten's whole class. All 22 of them loved it. Many will like it for the clever photographed objects with paper clip feet. Good story about trying to find friends and not giving up when kid after kid rejects you when you ask them to play...it was a very fitting story for my older child, a 1st grader who loves soccer, peanut butter and used to often get rejected by kids when she asked if they wanted to play with her. It proves that you can't let yourself feel down and give up on yourself just because some kids don't want to play with you. Eventually peanut butter, like my daughter, found a friend and from there found more friends. It made my daughter feel like she's not the only one with a story about rejection and reinforced the idea to her that you don't have to feel bad about yourself because someone doesn't want to play with you (peanut butter never gets sad, s/he just moves on). Thank for this great story Terry Border.

My favorite!
This was my favorite book to read with my son from the time he was very little to the time he could read it back to me! It's a great book to help learn to read, too. I buy this book for all baby showers now, because I think everyone would enjoy it with their children. I absolutely love this book and the rest of the series!

Hilarious
This book is full of funny puns and interesting photos that illustrate the story. The photos will hold the interest of a toddler while the jokes will put a smile on the face of your 1st grader. Iโd recommend this book for your little one or as a gift to someone elseโs kiddo!

Adults may find repetative. Kids couldn't disagree more.
The art in this book is amazing. As far as I can tell it's a combination of real-life photography and colorful illustrations. I also enjoyed the message this story sends to children: perseverance is the key to success in all things, especially when you're new to town. The story shows that sometimes it's hard to make friends. You may be shot down many times along the way, and it may at times feel hopeless, but eventually you will succeed as long as you don't give up. So, stay true to your heart, be kind, don't be afraid to ask someone to play, and we'll go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly! I personally found this book a tiny bit repetitive and the character voices not all that unique. Of course, my 6 year old son couldn't disagree more. He absolutely adores this book and would read it every night at bedtime for at least a decade if I could tolerate it that many times in a row.

A book that makes you smile
I bought this book for my grandson, age 3. He is now 5 years old, and he and I still love this book. The characters in the book come to life, and as I have found in all of Terry Border's books, there is a lesson to be learned. My grandson loves all of Terry Borders books. He never gets tired or bored of his books. He brought this book into his preschool class, and his teacher read it. She loved it too, and so did all the children in the class. My grandson's only wish is that Terry Border could come over to his house for a play date.
