Works perfectly in my TiVo Roamio Plus. All I needed were T10 and T15 Torx bits to open up the TiVo and swap out the hard drive. The  Husky 8 in 1 Torx Screwdriver Set  did the trick. Simply remove four screws (T10) on the back panel of the TiVo, slide the case off, and then remove four screws (T10) that hold the hard drive to the main board. Disconnect the data cable from the hard drive, and then remove the four screws (T15) around the hard drive enclosure. Grab your new hard drive and repeat this process in reverse. It took me about 10 minutes.This hard drive is the exact model that comes standard in the TiVo Roamio -- although this one has three times the storage capacity. No additional configuration is required. Simply install the hard drive, power on the TiVo, and complete the setup procedure that appears on-screen. However, note that you will likely have to pair your CableCARD with your cable company again. I also lost several of my season passes, so I had to go through and create them again. You will NOT lose your lifetime service/"all-in" status.The hard drive itself is whisper quiet and functions perfectly. I ordered from Oceanside Store via Amazon and I received the package within two days. The hard drive was sealed in its original packaging with a manufacture date of May 2016. If you're a TiVo Roamio user, this is an easy and highly recommended upgrade.

As others have reported this works great in my TiVo Roamio. My TiVo can hold 450 hours of HD recordings - love having to never delete anything! For those worried about the installation into a Roamio it is super easy, here are the steps I followed and tools required to get the job done...Installation Guide Notes:- If you follow my guide you will lose all data (recordings and settings) stored on the hard drive but not something such as lifetime status- As of right now the 3tb is the biggest drive that will fit inside the roamio box, the 4tb is too chubby to sit properly- Go with this drive (or one like it) made for use within devices that are always on. Standard drives aren't meant for constant use and could fail on you.Tools required: Torx T-10 & T-15 ScrewdriversSteps: 1. Use the Torx T-10 Screwdriver to unscrew top case of TiVo 2. Remove top case of TiVo - This can be the hardest part as their are plastic clips, just take your time! 3. Disconnect current hard drive from SATA cable and unscrew from bracket using T-15 torx 4. Install new hard drive (yes it can be blank, right out of the box from amazon!) by screwing back into bracket and putting cable into back of new drive 5. Put lid back on TiVo and use T-10 torx to put the screws back in 6. Boot up TiVo and wait up to 30 minutes as the operating system is reinstalled automatically.Well worth the minimal effort and cost of the drive!

I had to send the first one back because it was dead. The replacement fits perfectly and works as expected in my TiVo Roamio. I was able to replace the original 500 GB drive with this one in less than an hour. Thanks to the fact that the Roamio DVR now loads the OS from a flash chip there was no special formatting required. It's really plug 'n play.

Installed in my new TiVo Roamio as soon as I got the Roamio and drive. Very easy with the help of a YouTube video but you'll need/want a T9 and T10 screwdriver.Coming from the TiVoHD, you do not have to do any software setup of new or replacement hard drives - just install a new hard drive in the Roamio and the Roamio sets up and configures the new hard drive automatically. I think that's pretty great.So far the drive itself works great and is very quiet... and can hold hundreds of hours of HD programming.BEWARE of using other drives in a TiVo, especially the basic Roamio unit which has a weak or barely adequate power supply to begin with. Other hard drive brands may have significantly higher power or start-up power requirements and may generate more heat. Just spend a little extra money and get the right/best drive for your TiVo (if that's what you're buying it for).The 3 year warranty is also nice.UPDATE 2015-10-07: Still working great and very happy I bought the TiVo Roamio, which now "powers" (with this 3 TB HD still in it) 3x TiVo Minis.UPDATE 2016-10-17: Still working great.

Package arrived ahead of schedule, well packaged, and inside a sealed antistatic bag. It was the exact part number advertised. I installed the drive in my Tivo Roamio DVR to replace the 500 Gb factory standard drive. The 2 drives look identical; the only difference appears to be their memory capacity. The installation took only a few minutes. Of course, all of the previously stored preferences and recorded videos were removed with the old drive, so one has to go through the set up routine again. Don't worry though, your Tivo subscription data is preserved, so your DVR will still be recognized. This family of drives is specifically designed for DVR operation, i.e. long periods of recording. Low power consumption means less heat and greater reliability. It is also extremely quiet. This is not the cheapest 3Tb drive on the market, but it is the best one for recording video.

I bought this to upgrade the 500 GB hard drive that came in my Tivo Roamio OTA. The swap took less than 10 minutes and worked perfectly. The drive runs cool and is barely audible. Very pleased!UPDATE: Drive failed after 3-year warranty expired.

This is my second- the first lasted through over 6 years of constant & perfect operation in my Tivo RoamioA great service life- bought this as a replacement for the failed drive*( * which i reformatted and am now using for another purpose)

Works like a champ, have in a Windows Media Center rig used for recording HD TV shows from my silicon dust HDhomerun OTA and a Silicon Dust Prime cable card (card supplied by FiOS) network tuners.

ya sabemos la conversion.. util 2,7 tb.no es 7.200 rmp, son 5.400, aun asi lo pone claramente en el anuncio.De momento tras instalarlo ningun problema eso si. Lo que molesta es que engañen y pongan en la descripcion cosas que no son y compares con otros modelos con caracteristicas engañosas...

Bought this to use as a PVR expander for the Shaw Gateway. Works great so far.

Mir gefällt die Festplatte sehr gut,sie hat eine schnelle Lesegeschwindigkeit und ist im Betrieb praktisch nicht zu hören, selbst wenn man sich auf Geräusche konzentriert, also perfekt für meinen Silent- Gaming PC als Storage-Platte für Filme/Bilder/Musik etc.Habe auch einige Spiele darauf installiert und auch das klappt wunderbar, Ladezeiten sind mit meiner SSD vergleichbar.Auch das hier viel beschriebene Head-Parking Problem, bei dem sich der Actuator zu früh in die Parkposition begibt und so schneller verschleißt ist bei dieser Festplatte nicht aktiviert, habe es mit dem Tool WDIDLE3.exe überprüft und da war es deaktiviert, also kein Problem was das betrifft.Alles in allem bin ich bis jetzt sehr zufrieden damit und kann jedem den Kauf empfehlen.Edit: Nach nun mehr fast 3 Jahren im Einsatz als Massenspeicher läuft die Platte immer noch ohne Fehler.

Pourtant utilisé dans un Nas bien ventilé, ce disque n'a tenu que dix mois !!!Un beau jour, plus moyen d'accéder aux données (secteurs défectueux).Pourtant ce disque est conçu pour un usage continu, ce qui n'est pas vraiment mon cas malgré l'usage en NAS.Là, je viens de demander un remboursement et j'ai acheté (toujours sur Amazon), un HGST (Hitachi) qui même si il est plus cher semble de bien meilleur qualité.Western Digital, pour moi c'est fini ! Ce n'est plus la qualité d'antan où Western Digital rimait avec qualité. Je classe dorénavant WD au même niveau que Seagate, c'est à dire pas terrible...
