My job as a photographer often means I am either leaning over to take photos or I'm sat at a computer editing photos, often resulting in tension in my shoulders. Although I have no back pain I do find that my back isn't as flexible as I would like.I'm a keen dancer and since I'm already able to do the splits I'd like to achieve a more impressive range of movement in my back to accompany this!DESIGN & BUILDI looked at various other wheels but was struck by this one as it was the same price but looks great! (I chose the purple galaxy type pattern). I know technically it doesn't matter what it looks like if it serves the intended purpose but it'll be hanging around my home a fair bit so it's definitely a bonus if it's aesthetically pleasing ;)It's 33cm in diameter so pretty standard as yoga wheels go. Since it's quite small it's nice and easy to store for immediate use (unlike an inflated swiss ball that I got fed up of quickly so deflated and never used again!)The inside (purple patterned bit) of the wheel is matte soft sturdy plastic and the outside is a slightly padded textured black rubber.USING THE WHEELI know it's very easy to cause yourself back pain by using things too vigorously or suddenly on your back so I am always really slow and careful in using it.It says that it'll take up to 150kg so I should think that'll cover anyone who realistically has the physical ability to use it.There is an A4 sheet included with 3 basic poses (with diagrams & brief instructions) for using the wheel, which is a handy starting point.From the first time I used it I found it a great way to release my back and get a quite intense stretch for my chest. Since you're using a lot of your body weight on it it gives a strong sort of massaging action on your back (not exactly relaxing as such but as an active stretch it does the job!)You can take it to different points on your back to increase the stretch in different areas. It helps to stay on it for a while and breathe slowly while gradually increasing the stretch as you breathe out.It's worth noting that although it looks slightly narrow (13cm to be exact) it feels pretty sturdy when I'm on it (I'm 175cm female & 60kg). The grippy rubber helps you to feel secure and connected to the wheel.RESULTSI find it really satisfying to use and have been using it for a few minutes daily either after warming up through exercise (this is ideal) or sometimes after a very hot bath if I feel warm enough.I can see that this will definitely help my back flexibility if I continue as it's certainly quite a challenge to match my back bend to the circle of the wheel but one that I can gradually work with.Even if it doesn't greatly increase my flexibility I would continue simply for the shoulder and back stretch.Great price, brilliant product. Highly recommended!

I pulled my Psoas muscle in my back. My physio told me to stretch more and to look into yoga.So I looked into yoga equipment and found the yoga wheel.It’s the perfect size to fit into my lower back, I have just started using it and it’s made such a difference already. I am a dancer and gravel biker, it’s important for me to look after my body as I’m so active.The wheel is sturdy and grips well to the yoga mat. I sit it in my lower back, roll slowly upto shoulders, I find the sweet spot breath deeply and release. I also use it to stretch my quads and glutesGreat value for money.It is also eco friendly.

Good sturdy wheel for yoga practice. So far I've only used it for back bends but am looking forward to incorporating it into my practice in other ways. Lovely quality, feels very strong.

Seems to work well but the quality is not as expected. The connection of the cushion done roughly a d the plastic bit has some slight defect, feels like it might start peeling off

Good quality, bought to match Yogi Bare yoga mat and stretching band - love the matching set! As with all Yogi Bare products, high quality at a great price and love the minimal, earth friendly packaging. Good grip on the outside of the wheel and feels very sturdy.

Really like using this, I'm just not 100% with the join on the foam. Not sure how long it will stay looking nice. Lovely looking piece of kit overall though.

Fantastic Yoga Wheel! I had considered buying a yoga wheel for a while and am so glad that I eventually did. I use it to open up my shoulders and work in my lower back and whole spine. It’s fantastic and I’ve used it every day since it arrived. I practice yoga daily and the wheel has added another element to this. It’s also great if you’ve had to work at the computer for a while and get sore, stiff or tight shoulders, use the wheel and you feel much better afterwards. I’d highly recommend this wheel if you are considering buying one, especially as I purchased at a great offer price.
