I liked the look and feel of this bag. Seemed very sturdy and smartly constructed. Very disappointed that on its very first journey it came up short with three small rips. Guess I'll have to settle for light use.

I had a green canvas bag from Army Surplus that I used for years, and the handles eventually wore out. This bag is almost exactly like the old one, different color, but with the same durability and size. I love it, it's a great replacement for my older one.

Though this duffle is not absolutely perfect, I'm giving it 5 stars because it is well-made, strong and tough, and is meeting my needs. I bought it mainly to carry laundry (2 "normal" loads) to/from the laundromat. It can easily carry 25 pounds. I'm not sure it would be suited for carrying a 50 lb. load, however. The fabric exhibits a good balance between stiffness and flexibility. The rugged canvas fabric is coated inside with a water-resistant layer. (I'm not sure what the inner layer is made of.) I bought the large size, which was appropriate for my purpose, but it is bigger than the picture would seem to indicate. It has a couple limitations. First, it would have been improved if it had a couple small pockets for storing items you need to keep separate. Second, the base of the bag is not reinforced, so the duffle will buckle somewhat if it is not stuffed completely. The pictures show it being flat on the bottom. I solved the problem by inserting a thin, but firm piece of hardboard (like masonite).

I bought this bag to go camping. It's a bit smaller than I had imagined, although I did hold out a tape measure to visualize the dimensions before buying. The material is impressive - thick, well sewn, and plain rugged. I don't know how close this is to a real troop bag since I have never served, but the quality is akin to a high-end hockey bag. I fit the kids' sleeping bags, large tent, utensils, and pillows in here with a bit of room to spare. I also love the dusty brown colour, and mesh pocket for a name tag. All this for under $50, all I can say is wow! If you aren't sure about buying this bag, I would say just buy it. It will come in handy at some point. I might even buy another one.

Bag is solidly built for the price. Decently Large - 31". Only used for a weekend trip, but found it to be solidly built and no trouble packing close to 45 lbs worth of gear into it and hauling it around. Stitching is typical budget style, single row with small thread used, this might be the one of the few weak points on the bag. The other is a cheap feeling plastic shoulder strap attachment points. They creak and groan under weight. Couldn't hurt to replace and reinforce. Overall, I have no doubts this bag will last. The material used for the bag is stiff enough to give the bag some shape on it's own, but not enough to keep it flat when packed.The external pocket is a nice touch to keep other items handy when you don't want to root into your bag.If this bag were to be lost or stolen, I would purchase another without hesitation.EDIT - April 13/16After traveling every weekend, hauling gear and clothing, the handle padding has started to de-stitch itself around the loops for the handles. Not a big deal, but a bit of an annoyance.

I have had this bag for about 7 months now, with weekly use it is holding up extremely well even with about 60 lbs of clothes and other items stuffed into it. Bigger than I expected, seems built to last. I might even get another to use as a tent bag for camping. Very versatile. Would recommend!

Bag is made of lightweight material and is large enought to take on a long vacation.Not sure if build quality will hold up in the long run.
