The skeg was broken off of my late 80's Mercury 115 "Tower Of Power" when I bought it. Although a couple people told me it would be OK as is, I still wanted it right. I had to wait a little longer to get this, but it was worth the wait. It came in this morning. I installed it very easily by bumping it onto the remainder of my broken skeg and drilled the holes to mount it. I had to shorten one of the chicago screws to get it tightened down just right, but it's a perfect replacement compared to a $1500 repair!

Fits my 60hp mercury perfectly. Havent had the boat in the water yet to see how it handles but I'm sure it will be fine as it is a good fit. Very easy to install I think it took me 10 minutes and 5 of them were searching for the right sized drill bit because my garage is so disorganized. I like the double side hex nut idea and the hex tools come with it. That's a real plus for me.

This is an amazing product! It's actually better looking than the factory. In the future I will out them to improve the strength of the skeg!It's stronger than the aluminum. Installation was a breeze! I called the factory and you won't find better people to deal with!

Received mine today, for a 2015 Mercury 150 hp 4 stroke. It took a little longer to deliver, 26 instead of 3 days. I have not installed it yet, but the product itself looks better than I expected.After installing: I was a bit worried about drilling the last bit of sgek left on the engine. Turns out, it takes no skills at all. Cleaning, fitting with a rubber hammer, drilling, bolts in, all under 10 minutes.

I couldnt find a skeg guard for a 2001 mercury 25hp bigfoot anywhere. In my research trying to find a weld on replacement skeg i found that the skeg that i would need was in fact for a 40-60 hp merc. So i took a gamble and ordered this skeg shield. The motor that i bought out of a barn was missing quite a bit of the skeg so i had to drill another 5/16” hole in order to mount it. Yeah it may void my warranty but it saved me a ton of time. If i really had the gumption i can scribe this skeg shield to the contour of the gear housing with a belt sander and it would fit perfectly.

Got my gator shield for my 2023 Mercury 90 four stroke. I am installing as a preventive measure as i run a shallow river and will eventually grind the skeg. I followed the one page installation instructions only to find the bolts were too short for my install. However, this company doesn't answer their phone and there is NO website, not even a phone number listed on it. It's like they have been selling the wrong components and don't want to hear from you!!! Beware as of now i have ruined a $10,000 motor or at the very least voided my warranty for a product that honestly seems like it is just some customer service away from being great.

I recently banged up my skeg. This was an easy solution and it looks really cool too.You'll need to file down the jagged corners where the damage is so the guard slips on. Once the guard is in place, drill your holes and screw on the bolts.

Feel free to ask a question of the supplier if you are not sure of the proper Skeg model you require to ensure a proper fit the first time. Easy to install, provided you have the required length remaining of the original skeg.

Tengo una inquietud , en 2 salidas a pescar resultó que se cayeron los 2 tornillos que sujetan el skegshield y la perdí sin haber tenido ningún golpe , creo que los tornillos no están seguros ya que al instalar tuve la precaución de apretar debidamente los tornillos no obstante se aflojaron y se cayeron .Adjunto fotos en donde se observan los orificios intactos .Ahora no me queda mas que hacer nuevamente la compra.me gustaría que tuvieran alguna consideración ya que tengo muy poco tiempo de haberla comprado.Muchas gracias.

very simple to install , had to drill anotherhole as fin badly broken, happy with results, too expensive though ?
