I am so excited to surprise my family with this colour changing mug this Christmas. It appears black when you first look at it and when hot water is added the black fades and the picture appears. I will say that I could slightly see the picture under the black before I added the water which was a little bit annoying, however, it wasn't very noticeable. The mug itself is great quality, it is a basic size and shape and the handle feels really strong so it can be used day to day for hot or cold drinks. It is comfortable to hold and it doesn't feel scolding hot when water is added so it is quite manageable. Good value.

Pros:- Good quality mug which is dishwasher safe- Funny designCons:- I wished the reveal was slower, as it would be funny if you could pour your guest a cuppa and it slowly reveal over a few minutes. The reveal takes a few seconds so is often fully revealed before you sit down with your cuppaI hope you find this review helpful

A note about the attached video:The video is ran at 2x normal speed, so the reveal effect actually takes twice as long. Also, on camera you can clearly see the design underneath even when the mug is black and cold, but in the flesh it actually remains really well hidden. It's the digital lens of the camera that sees infrared light differently than our eyes do. Rest assured, even in direct sunlight it's basically impossible to see the hidden design with your bare eyes.The mug itself is pretty well made. In itself it's just a nice, run of the mill kind of mug. It doesn't attract unnecessary attention, it just sits there waiting to be warmed and it's ready to show its true colours.Often these thermal mugs aren't dishwasher safe, but this one claims to be. Not having a dishwasher myself I cannot test that claim, but this one reckons it is.Not too pricey if you want a gag gift. Remember Christmas is around the corner and your boss needs a special secret Santa gift.
