So this trilogy is 3 novels giving us 3 different main-characters, each with a story of their own. They are connected in that each novel takes places at the same time, only that we see them from different perspectives each time and learn something new about the Eldar.Gav Thorpe definitely has drawn some Asian influences in his writing, and I commend him for giving the main-characters some arcs to go through before the end. Even though they take place at the same time, you can't read them out of of order as they build upon each other and gives new information to the bigger mystery/plot. Highly recommend this one!

These collection of stories were made for fans of the craftworld eldar. If you want to delve deeper into the lore and know more about the path and how the eldar try to follow the path and its consequences, you have to read The path of the eldar.

Loved it. Gives you a good impression of the culture of the Eldar, very interesting to learn how they see the universe. Could perhaps be considered a must read for anyone wanting to learn more about the Eldar. I also liked how the reader gets more and more information on the underlying story with each character the books focus on.

Gav Thorpe hat mit PATH OF THE ELDAR einen wirklich lesenswerten und schlichtweg interessanten Beitrag zur seit Jahrzehnten beständig wachsende Gruppe der Romane aus dem seit Ende der 80er populären Warhammer 40000 Universum abgeliefert.Der grundsätzliche Aufbau des Buches, eben drei ineinander verwobene Geschichten, ermöglicht es, einen wirklich vielschichtigen und facettenreichen Einblick in die Kultur der Eldar zu bieten. Thorpe schreibt gut und plastisch, und selbst wenn die einzelnen Geschichten durchaus auch mal Längen haben versteht er es, den Leser über volle Distanz bei der Stange zu halten. Die Handlung fand ich ebenfalls gut, allerdings muss man einräumen, dass einige Entwicklungen dann doch ziemlich vorhersehbar waren - was mich aber jetzt beim Lesen nicht unbedingt gestört hat.Hinzu kommt natürlich noch der offentliche Vorteil dieses Buch ist, dass es gar nicht allzu viel sonstige Romane aus dem Warhammer 40000 Universum gibt, in denen die Eldar tragende Rollen spielen - was doppelt erstaunlich ist, wenn man sich überlegt, das unter Spielern die Eldar sehr beliebt sind. Im Verhältnis zu dem selbst für Fans kaum übersehbaren Wust von Romanen, welche sich um die Space Marines drehen, ist die "Eldar Literatur" aus dem Warhammer 40.000 Universum erstaunlich rar gesät.Alles in allem: ein umfangreiches und definitiv lesenswertes Buch über eine der populärste Fraktionen des Warhammer 40000 Universums, welcher eine ganze Menge Einblicke in ihrer Kultur und eine stattliche Anzahl von neuen Facetten enthüllt. Vielleicht unterm Strich nicht Gav Thorpes bestes Werk, aber sicherlich einer der interessantesten Warhammer 40.000 Romane der letzten Jahre.Von mir gibt es gute 4 Sterne.

I started out not really 'getting' the Eldar, and after MANY recommendations of "The Path Of" series, I broke down and bought this anthology, and I'm really glad I did! It is the same story told through the perspectives and paths of three separate Eldar protagonists, each showcasing an aspect of their psychology and what led them to the Aspect Temple they follow.Gav is a great writer. While any one of these books stands on their own, to grasp the true complexity of the Eldar Paths you really have them all to fully understand, which is further testament to his ability.

If you are a fan of the Eldar you will love these tales. If you are unfamiliar to the 40k universe these will be fairly impenetrable.
