Dream Screen 4K DIY Kit

After much deliberation I decided to take the plunge and purchase a Dreamscreen. I had read the many varied reviews and demos.The product I received was exactly the one advertised.Set up was very simple and the app connected straight away.I have had to place some extra sticky pads on the strips, but I'm guessing the sticky strips that are on the lights can only be so strong, as they need to allow adjustment of position if required.I have found the effect brilliant.Watching the blue planet and other breathtaking scenes are even more spectacular with the added effect.I'm not a "gamer" but watching game trailers with the lights on are brilliant too.I was aware before buying that unless the movie you are watching is full Screen, you do lose a little of the effect if the movie is letter boxed.So,I searched high and low, and there's nothing on the market that does what the Dreamscreen does. If you are 90% tempted, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The app is absolute garbage doesn’t work properly is very temperamental & trying to get it synced to my WiFi what a joke.The system itself is also garbage I was expecting a bit of kit that would be responsive I ended up with an overpriced back light system that doesn’t do as advertised. I am going to try a different light strip to see if that is where the problem is but overall my level of dissatisfaction is off the charts. If I could give this a minus figure it would have been at least a minus 50.I have a Govee system which is 100 times better, would I recommend DreamScreen nope not a chance.

Edit: afrter having gotten over the honey moon period with the Dreamscreen 4k i have decided to return this and dropped it from 4 to 3 stars for the following reasons: at times only half the lights work until i have to manual turn the lights on and off from the app, there is an occasional, flashing on some lights; the biggest reason is colour accuracy - my display is ISF calibrated so i watch according to reference colour levels. Unfortunately the Dreamscreen LED's are at times the wrong hue and various manipulation of the RGB controls cant set it properly. Its a nice experience particularly if you dont care much about colour accuracy but considering the price, which is not cheap it should be betterHaving previously used a Rpi based lightberry system i was intrigued by this one box solution.I wasnt disapointed, setup is very easy, more or less plug and play. I was a bit sceptical as you cant set your starting LED so unsure how accurately the strips need positioned to ensure it lights up and lines up with screen content - but it worked out perfect. Start from the left (from the back) and work clockwise starting from as close to the corner as possible. On each side i started by fixing the first led strand then the last followed by the ones in between - this way i could ensure perfect spacing.Colour accuaracy is generally good, i did find on some occasions a slightly mismatched colour e.g. dark grey as a blueish tone but its pretty good overall. In the app there is options to alter individual RGB saturation which might help it will likely shift other colours out of balance. There is certainly not a detailed level of fine tweaking available compared to the likes of hyperion but i guess its a different type of user that would tackle a hyperion based system. Bearing in mind my display is ISF calibrated the LED's arent D65 so keep colour boost turned off for the best result.Im not too sure about the widescreen detection - it doesnt appear to be that clever other than just displaying the lights based on a crop of the image, which for me didnt work well as it wasnt distinguising between non widescreen or widescreen content properly.The lights turn off when the source is off, my previous lightberry didnt. And there is a bunch of options and modes to use like ambience and music to change how the lights react. You can also set the light intensity.You need the mobile app to connect the unit to your wifi to pair with the app, i had no issues.The adhesive strips supplied on the LED strips is 3M 9080A - i found a couple of strips were losing tack and coming off even after a day. Nevertheless the correct variant should be used be extremely strong. Iv used 3M 4611F tape to reapply the strips to the TV - highly recommended, this stuff wont shift!. Also be sure properly clean the surface before applying anything, alcohol wipes etc and nothing that leaves a residue.The unit is small about the size of your palm and build quality looks good. The led strands are robust with a rubber reel, cables are strong and overall great quality.I bought the extreme version for my legendary 60inch Panasonic ZT65.

I bought this product and it arrived super quickly. I really like the product so far but it's most effective in a dark room obviously. Even though the product is for 65"-80" tv's the app has the ability to adjust for the smaller sets as well which is fantastic.The product arrived and it was obviously used before, the box had been opened and things moved around and the lid didn't fit properly bulging out in the middle. I then went to set up the product as I don't really care if it was returned but the adhesive on the led's were covered in dust and some of them would stick properly others kept falling off seconds after connecting. I am going to have to buy some double sided tape to fix the issue , which is obviously not what you want for a £200+ product.If I cared more I would have returned it immediately but I actually really wanted the product.I'm giving 5 stars because the product itself is great. I would just prefer a new one.
