Helix - Circle Ruler - Assorted Colors - 12-inch

I will start by saying I agree with other reviews that this is thin plastic and feels easy to break, probably not a great choice for children or those who will be rough on it but it worked perfectly for my purposes. The rotating center piece has a small hole for a tack or finishing nail to hold the ruler in place while you rotate it to make circles. I found that a mechanical pencil fit well inside the holes, but anything with a thicker point than that may be too large. The rotating center piece popped out of mine on the first use, it is held in with small little clips and I was able to 'snap' it back into place with some force, none of the clips broke and it works just as well as it did before that piece popped out. I am laying out a Mandala on an organically shaped table surface and needed to make large perfect circles to map out the pattern - this was the perfect solution. Obviously functions as a regular ruler / straight edge as well, so it has value beyond circle making. 100% worth it for the $ compared to other similar options!

I went looking for a simple tool to make circles and found this lovely item. It has made drawing circle guidelines a snap. It is a time saver. Easy to figure out how to use it. And the price was very reasonable. Five Stars If you are looking to make Mandala circles and need an inexpensive tool, this will work great for you.

Missing center piece. Flimsy made. Lots of size options for making circles. Ok product for the price. Don't think I'll buy this again though.

Great ruler

I originally was interested in this to create perfect circles for my artwork without the use of a compass with a needle potentially making holes or dents in the paper. Even a small dent or impression can then be highlighted out and made really distracting if you plan on coloring over the area later, especially with colored pencils. If you want to avoid this effect, you either need to get really good at drawing circles or find a tool like this! I tried a couple other similar tools and this was my favorite by far. It is easy to spin and stays put well without needing a ton of pressure to hold the middle down. I just use my finger but you could also use the eraser side of a pencil or a chopstick as well. The inner templates and markings along the edge are also more useful than I expected. I didn’t think even consider them when I first purchased this, but now I use them often!

A thin piece of plastic with an attractive color. Its biggest drawback is that it's too fragile to remain firm and stable. Everything else is just semantics.

I love this ruler. I broke my old one and had to purchase another one. I started using this ruler when it was recommended by a calligrapher. It's accurate as well.

I was a bit disappointed that the plastic is so thin but it does the job ok.

Ordered this based on reviews by artists whom I respect. Being purely objective, it does what it is intended to do and does that well. However and as the pictures will show, it arrived with a distinct curvature in the middle. That is because it is plastic and very light and the curve is a result of the Centre placement of the pivot. That said, it does work very well and repeat circles seem to be accurate. It’s easy to use and I’m sure I will use it extensively. My only complaint is that I think it’s overpriced!

Coming from a graphic designer, this is one of the best circle makers available. It features a simple, straightforward design. Compasses are great, but sometimes you need something quicker. Also, a compass can’t create the small circles that the stencil on this ruler can. I’ve tried many so called “top of the line” circle makers out there — but they all prove gimmicky (at best). Maped brand is the way to go. The only thing I would improve on is the flimsiness. This baby could snap right in half if you’re not careful. Wish they made one in stainless steel. Overall, great purchase.
