Dose this work with Swann cameras?

Yes it does, at least with the Swann NHD810 cameras - the only thing you have to do is input the password for the swann cameras as it will otherwise state "Invalid PWD". You can do this on the admin screen where you scan for and setup which channel each camera is on... simply scroll the grid to the right and there is a box to enter it. FYI the default swann password is "12345" (wheras Reolink uses a blank password). I suspect it will work with any Swann POE camera that connect using the "port 9000" protocol. I actually have this Reolink NVR at my parents house and an old Swann 7285 NVR at my house and the operating system is identical bar the logos. From doing some research i believe they are basically the same Chinese company

Does this NVR simply have to be on the same network as your cameras?

Hello, thanks for inquiry. The cameras can be added to the NVR automatically when simply put the NVR in the same network with the cameras.

Does this support rlc-811a & rlc-822a?

Hello, yes, rlc-811a & rlc-822a can be used with RLN8-410.

Apart from normal max length limits for ethernet cable are there any specific to this box? can a cable be replaced with a cpe-cpe wi-fi connection?

Hello. No, this NVR needs to connect to the network via the network cable. However, it can add the Reolink Poe and adapter-powered wifi camera via the local network and save the recording to the HDD inside. And you can check the living video stream and recording video via the free Reolink software. Feel free to contact us via Amazon message for more information.
