It's not perfect but..cmon, value for money certainly.
I picked one of these up out of curiosity and that I wanted to replace my nifty-fifty that I gave away just before I got back into photography (doh). It's an impressive looking and feeling lens. Some real heft to it that is pleasing. This is not a 'throw-around' lens.Mine was on an older firmware so the first thing I did was update that. Fairly simple to do so give it a go.As for performance, yes it's not a quiet lens but I'm not that bothered. In use I found the autofocus a little 'searchy' but not annoyingly so. I've used far more expensive lenses that have their moments too. I did test it for back and forward focussing and found it was back focusing very slightly. So I adjusted accordingly in my 6D and all was good so you might want to check that. But at the end of the day I got a solid, competent 50mm F1.4 for just over £100!Worth a punt. I doubt you'll have any trouble moving it on if it's not for you.

Yongnuo 50mm F1.4 lens. Good value for money.
My Yongnuo 50mm F1.4 lens arrived today, bought new from elsewhere at a very low price (£115) and I am most impressed. It’s probably a bit premature for a review but I’ve been doing a lot of research and there are both positive and negative reviews out there, so I’m very pleased the negs did not put me off. I’m not a professional and have yet to rise back to the ranks of keen amateur, but I’m very happy with the shots I’ve taken today with a Canon 80D. Christopher Frost’s review of this lens on YT (as with all his reviews) is spot on, but for the money I feel the points of caution Christopher raises are acceptable. I’m very pleased I did not go for a used Canon 50mm F1.4 at 1.5 times the price. At F1.4 in decent neutral light I found the focus was quick enough and sharpness OK (see sample image). The foreground / background blur (bokeh) is as smooth as I could wish for. I’ve not tested the lens at all apertures but I guess stopped down the sharpness will improve as Christopher’s comprehensive test shows. There is no image stabilisation, so obviously no stars are awarded for that. I also managed to update the lens software using a standard micro USB lead, so I’d say everything is well up to expectation and for the money you’d have to say this lens is a good buy.

Nun zufrieden :-)
