Hoping for a Volume 2 Soon
So glad someone is still compiling disco favorites and rarities for compilation CDs. The eleven full-length versions included here mix rarities with great stuff I don't mind having again. The rarities are the excellent "Everybody Get Up" by Ren Woods and the full-length versions of Donna Summer's "With Your Love" and Sylvester's "Dance (Disco Heat)".I can always take "This Time Baby" (Jackie Moore) and "Heaven Must Have Sent You" (Bonnie Pointer) even though I have them already. Anyone who hasn't heard those before really needs to. And I have always enjoyed "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" by Gonzalez.Perhaps most impressive is the detail in the liner notes. The booklet devotes one page to each song, with photos of the album and/or 12" single from which it comes. Our hero for the disc, and hopefully a continuing series, is one Christian John Wilkane.I don't know if anyone else is still seeking these on CD, but I thought I'd mention "A Little Lovin' (Keeps the Doctor Away)" by the Raes, "Makin' It" by the awesome David Naughton, "Let Me Take You Dancing", disco skeleton in Bryan Adams' closet; and "Don't Hold Back" by Chanson. Anyone compiling those would have an instant purchase from me.Regardless, hoping for and looking forward to more. Highly recommended.

Phenomenal audio quality!
Some of these tracks have been released on CD in the past by their original label, who butchered them! For once we get the entire "This Time Baby", "With Your Love" and the ultra-rare long version of "Dance (Disco Heat)" with parts never-before heard, at least by myself, and I played this thing to death back in the day!Amazingly, Gold Legion didn't run the original tapes thru a brick-wall limiter, so the dynamic range on every track is respected.Cheryl Lynn's seductive build-up on "Star Love" will give you chills over the crackly vinyl you may be accustomed to hearing.I can't wait for volume 2!

Reto Disco
I heard the song #1 DJ on XM radio. Song I was not familiar with. Researched and found the song on the album. The complete album is a winner. Many of the songs I was not familiar with, but the best examples of disco ever produced

Some rare tracks on this CD. If you're a "Sylvester-Discostyle"-fan, you will get value for money here. "Dance Disco Heat" is a monument. R.I.P. Sylvester.

First time on CD: FULL version of Donna Summer "With Your Love" + 8 Mins of Sylvester's "Dance (Disco Heat)" - Red Hot!
This review is for: Disco Discography, Vol. 1 This is an essential purchase for fans of Disco 12" mixes because it includes 3 tracks that have not been on CD before: Donna Summer's "With Your Love" is the FULL 7:34 version from the U.S. Promo 12". It was previously available on Donna's excellent The Dance Collection CD, however there it was faded out just over the 6 minute mark. Also for the first time on CD we have the 8:09 12" version of Sylvester's "Dance (Disco Heat)". Previous CD's have always included the album version which runs to just under 6 minutes, so this is the first time we have had the longer version on CD. I have the original vinyl 12" single from 1978 and noticed the label says 8:20, so I checked and found it fades a few seconds earlier than the full version, but there is nothing crucial missed. If anything this tidied the ending up. Regardless, we are lucky to get this at all. The 12" mix is mixed by Jim Stern and noticeably looser than the album version and 7" version, so if you expect it to sound the same as versions you may be previously familiar with, then you may be surprised. But I have to say it is the track on this CD that made me stop my review and get up to dance. It's unbelievable that these tracks from major artists like Donna Summer and Sylvester have been unavailable on CD for over 30 years. I'm extremely grateful to Gold Legion for unearthing these and the sound quality is superb. Also new to CD is the lovely Ren Woods "Everybody Get Up" which was a U.S. only 12" and great to see this superb track finding a wider audience here. Getting these tracks that have not been on CD before is a real treat. Also hot on this CD for me was Cheryl Lynn's "Star Love" which is in a 7:23 12" version longer than the album version. The 12" mix is hot! Most of the other tracks I already have on other CD's, but for those who don't the standouts here are Jackie Moore "This Time Baby" (which if you know the Freemasons "Love On Your Mind" you will be able to sing along with this because that was basically an update of this track), Norma Jean Wright "Saturday" which is produced by Chic (I have also reviewed Norma Jean's excellent CD: Norma Jean (Expanded) ), Gonzalez "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" (which was later a pop hit for the Stock Aitken Waterman-produced Pat & Mick) and a superb disco workout; "I Got The Feeling" by Two Tons O' Fun (who later changed their name to The Weather Girls and had a global smash hit with "It's Raining Men"). This CD is volume 1. I hope there will be a volume 2 which unearths more gems. Stargard's "Wear It out" is here, but that has been on other CD's before... I would love to have their "What You Waitin' For" on CD. Fingers crossed for volume 2. One last interesting fact here is that the Gonzalez track has slight tape hiss on the final seconds of the track. On Ben Liebrand's " Grand 12-Inches " CD it is faded 5 seconds earlier, presumably to avoid the hiss. Ben doesn't always get it right, but with this track I think fading slightly earlier was better.Last thing to mention here is the booklet is superb. It has a page for each track and shows photographs of the sleeves and labels with chart positions and details for each track. This CD has obviously been compiled with love.I've added a track list with my notes so you can see easily what is available on this CD:01) Jackie Moore "This Time Baby" (7:14)02) *Ren Woods "Everybody Get Up" (5:53 12" Version - First time on CD)03) Stargard "Wear It Out" (5:15)04) Norma Jean Wright "Saturday" (6:05)05) Goody Goody "#1 Dee Jay" (7:21)06) **Donna Summer "With Your Love" (7:34 FULL 12" Version - First time on CD)07) Cheryl Lynn "Star Love" (7:23)08) **Sylvester "Dance (Disco Heat)" (8:09 12" Version - First time on CD)09) Bonnie Pointer "Heaven Must Have Sent You" (7:14)10) Gonzalez "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" (8:05)11) Two Tons O' Fun "I Got the Feeling" (5:18)* First time on CD** First time on CD in this version Disco Discography, Vol. 1The Dance CollectionNorma Jean (Expanded)Grand 12-Inches

Everybody Get Up!
I only bought this for the previously-unavailable-on-cd 12 inch version of Donna Summer's 'With Your Love', but the re-mastering on 'Disco Discography' is so superb, I recommend it to those who, like me, already have most of the other tracks on cd. A special mention has to go to 'Dance (Disco Heat)' has NEVER sounded better, and the inclusion of gems such as 'This Time Baby' and 'Everybody Get Up' makes this compilation a must-have for all disco fans. I can't wait for the next volume.
