Westcott FJ400
Opposed to another review, this DOES fit the Westcott FJ400. You have to take off the glass piece around the light for it to fit though. Love it! Works great

Good quality. Great addition to our studio photography
Got this to expand our creativity in our garage photo studio; here’s what my wife has to say: Great quality all around. The ability to control sharpness and softness is amazing and truly adds to the flexibility of being creative. Fit perfectly with our lights. Functional and fun. Comes with a wide range of patterns. I love that it comes with a case. Overall a great creative addition if it is something you will use.

Doesn’t fit bowens mount
This optical snoot is supposed to fit any light with a bowens mount. I have the Westcott fj400 and the aputure 600d pro and it doesn’t fit on either even though they both have a bowens mount and all my other modifiers fit fine

I love the effects
The Bowens Mount Optical Snoot Conical, Spotlight Snoot Photography, Flash Projector Attachment Kit with 19° Projection Lens is a really good product. There are other similar models out there in the same price range and it all comes down to which one you prefer. This does not include the light fixture but itdoes with a storage bag which I don't think some of them do. That's very nice to keep it in and the attachments that go with it.What you basically have here with the optics and lens is a pin spotlight. A pin spotlight puts out a very precise light with very sharp and crisp edges. The size of it depends on the degrees it has--the more degrees, the larger the image--and how far away it is from your subject. 19 degrees is fine for most indoor applications. This comes with a number of basic stock metal gobos that can give you several different effects from sunlight coming from a window to butteries. You can even attach a colored lens to change the mood if so desired. The brightness of this depends on the brightness of the fixture you attach it to.The problem with some of these snoods are that they're plastic; plastic when it gets hot melts. This is almost all metal with a Bowens mount at the end and the lens set attaching on the other end with one set screw. The only thing plastic about this would be the colored lens that fit on the end. Those aren't going to get very hot. This is nearly perfect. The only thing I'd change: I'd rather it had two set screws for safety. But, if you firmly attach it, it's secure. You do have to focus these by turning the end lens. I tested it and found that when turning it out, it does not come out but stops at the end. This can save you from dropping that glass lens and breaking it.Unlike some others, this attaches the gobo much like a slide projector and there's the option to put two gobos in it for a quicker swap from one gobo to another. Keep in mind that this can only display one gobo at a time but holds two gobos, one that's inside the snood and another that's outside. These little gobos are metal and attach magnetically. This means that they have to be steel and possibility galvanized sheet metal. With care, they will hold up. Get these wet and put them away wet, I'm sure it would probably begin to spot rust. It does come with a number of different gobos and I don't think you will be able to make your own due to the fact these are metal. In all honesty, you will probably use only about four of the set but the others are nice to have on hand.It does say you can use with a flash and so I tried that first as I had a strobe flash already set up. It is a standard Bowens mount and goes on with no problem. The modeling lamp is bright enough to light it up. As far as using the flash, you'll probably have to play around with it a bit to get the right intensity.I didn't like using it with the strobe flash because this encases the flash and modeling lamp. It gets hot, almost too hot to touch. This is concerning to me as it could shorten the life of the modeling lamp or the strobe flash bulb.I did connect it to the large continuous light that I have and it ran much cooler but that light does have an internal fan. That light fixture does put out a lot of light and you can see in the included pics just how bright it is without flash. Those are about three to four feet tall with that larger continuous. It is possible to aim it to a closer object to achieve much smaller lighting effects with such a light that can be adjusted in brightness.I think this one of the more important lighting attachments there is in a lighting bag tricks besides a softbox. This is really a very versatile piece that you will find yourself coming back to time and time again.

This Snoot Is A Great Way to Expand Your Creativity in Photography
I sometimes get in a rut with photography. That’s when I pull out equipment to get my creative juices flowing. While this snoot is not an item that I would use everyday, it definitely allows me to get some interesting shots and keeps my interest going. This snoot comes with four color gels and 25 gobos that can be used together or alone. I was even able to stack colors (although this reduces the light), and I was able to stack gobos. Stacking gives me more flexibility as I experiment. The gobos are really nice patterns and all usable designs. The snoot is able to be focused so you can keep a sharp shape or reduce the focus to give a more soft look. I found the focus easy to operate.I did find the color gels to be thick and it seems to me that it reduces the light output requiring higher brightness levels from the constant light. I used another gel snoot I have as comparison. My other snoot has thin plastic gels and doesn’t seem to reduce the light output as much. I don’t have a light meter to measure exactly, so I’m only stating what I see.The snoot is made well and is metal. The mount is Bowens and worked fine in my constant light. The snoot is a little heavy so make certain that you have a good light stand to hold everything. This snoot seems very durable and made to last a lifetime.A padded bag is included to protect the snoot. It is equally well made with good hardware and a nice softly padded handle.I’m having a lot of fun experimenting with this snoot. I absolutely love the gobos and I can see me using everyone of them in various scenarios. For example, I paired the blinds gobo over a breakfast food scene and create the illusion of the morning sun hitting the table. To me, it just “adds” something that tells more of the story in the photograph. Definitely an item to have to add more creativity to your photography.

Pretty cool, if it fits your lights
Surprised at how this is a nice complete kit. Comes with a carrying bag even. Decently made it seems, at this price point. It's a bowens mount, but it won't fit every light due to how it connects. Just something to be watchful of. If you're led light sticks out too much, it won't fit unfortunately.Other than that, it's cool having access to gobo patterns and they give you a good variety. A lot of creative options to add to your lighting.
