All in all, a brilliant little invention by Sony!
Zero wires and noise canceling were my priorities, and while expensive, I am really enjoying these. I have them in black and wear them to the gym and just about everywhere else I go, sometimes I only wear the left one. I almost always keep the charging case plugged into the car. The charging case bumps this product up to 5-stars for me, just make sure you press them in snuggly and wait a moment for the charging indicator to light up. Noise canceling isn't as amazing as full headphones like Sony WH1000XM2 or Bose QuietComfort 35 II, but it definitely makes a difference. Love that you can make adjustments in the app on Android, and I assume iOS. It takes a bit of practice to sort of twist these into your ears, but once in, they are in to stay. All in all, a brilliant little invention by Sony!UPDATE:Oops, no need to twist these into place like I originally wrote, doing so seems to have irritated my ears and resulted in some dry skin up there. Comfort Ear Natural Moisturizer cleared that up, no more twisting them into place and my ears are doing a lot better.UPDATE (after a year of use):Using these daily and really enjoying them, the battery and charging case seems to be holding up well. It is necessary to clean up any wax build-up every few weeks, a few minutes and about 6 q-tips and the case and earbuds are good as new. If I can get a couple of more years out of these they will have been one of my best investments.

High Hopes // Major Disappointment
I had very high hopes for these, especially after watching and reading many reviews before buying. Sadly, I was disappointed with nearly every feature—the only reason I give them 1 star is for a somewhat attractive product design (although the charging case and lid are VERY flimsy and cheaply made).Sound: The sound settings available via the accompanying app, and the default sound settings, are all subpar—especially for the pricepoint. They had paper thin bass that easily distorted (theres an electronic feature in these designed to mask the poor bass by giving it an artificial electronic boost), overwhelming highs that also distorted, and extremely muddy mids. The soundstage is practically non-existent, meaning these sound very one-dimensional and flat. The max volume (with and without the active noise canceling) is really low, and doesn't really conceal average street and gym noises.Functionality: The button controls aren't well-designed and are somewhat cumbersome to use—especially if you're trying to change a track while you're running or working out. Also, and this was the nail in the coffin, there's a MASSIVE latency issue. Not sure why some reviews play this down, but when changing tracks there was on average a 2-3 second delay. So as you're looking for that right track and hear it, chances are you've already unknowingly clicked 2-3 tracks past it, and have to go back. Also, the latency issue is a major problem when trying to use any kind of video editing or music apps—again, 2–3 seconds past what you're hearing.Comfort: Weigh a little too much for completely wireless. In-ear foam not comfortable and needed constant adjusting while working out.Overall: Disappointing on nearly every level and returned them immediately.

Short battery life
This is my first pair of in-ear wireless headphones, so maybe I was naive about the battery life. But when the description said up to nine hours of life, I assumed that was on a single charge like my much cheaper Sony bluetooth earbuds that were connected by a wire. Apparently that 9 hours includes the recharges you get out of the case. I think that is deceptive and should be clarified in the description. So far I have gotten less than three hours on a charge. To recharge in the case takes an hour or more, and you cannot use the buds independently while the other is charging, because only the left bud connects to the phone, while the right connects to the left. So when the left one dies, you have no headphones until it is recharged. I suppose three-ish hours is adequate for a workout or run, but I like to keep an earbud in one ear and listen to music or podcasts throughout my shift, and having to put it away for an hour less than three hours onto my shift is a bummer.Everything else is fine, the sound quality is good, the larger ear inserts made a nice tight fit in my ears, and they stay in place well. The noise concealing is good enough to improve sound quality, while the ambient setting is good when you are wearing it at work and need to be able to speak conversationally with others without pulling the bud out.Maybe I was expecting too much out of battery technology for such small devices. But 3 hours of life is pretty short. I will probably keep looking for another set with longer battery life, even if that means a cable with a larger battery attached.

Fantastic sound, exceptional fit, and impressive connectivity
I've had these for about a week now and am pleasantly surprised, considering how many critical expert reviews I have seen. All the critiques you hear in those reviews basically seem to be true - battery life is shorter than some competitors. The noise cancelling is not as effective as Bose. The case is kind of fiddly. But the pretty fantastic sound, exceptional fit, and impressive connectivity with almost no audio hiccups in the first week, make them a great choice overall. For me, the admitted shortcomings also aren't that big of a deal. For example, I rarely have an opportunity in my daily life to listen to music for 3 hours uninterrupted. Hence the battery life is sufficient for me. I also love the fact that you can easily cycle through noise cancelling, ambient sound, and off mode with the left side button. That third option mostly eliminates irritating wind noise when you are outside. In addition, the excellent fit provides great noise isolation and preserves high quality sound including bass, even when the external environment has tons of competing noise, and when you are sweaty enough that other earbuds would typically lose a good seal. Finally, the noise cancelling as I said is not as jaw-dropping as others. But it's still pretty good and a distinguishing feature on earbuds of this sort.

Finally found a pair of truly wireless earbuds that fit me.
I've tried a lot of truly wireless earbuds for gym/running/commuting and I have the Jabra Elites and Jaybird X3 but these were the first pair to stay in my ears and be truly comfortable to me. I have smallish ears/ear canals and I could never get the X3 to staying for the duration of a run and the Elites would stay but they would be uncomfortable after a little bit.Audio wise I find the Jaybirds sound better and the Elites a mild step above. The Sony headphone app has equalizer presets that helps a bit but you can't manually adjust it where as the other two you can with their respective apps. Of course I know audio is a bit of a personal preference so that's only my opinion. The active noise cancellation is good but not Bose QC good (and I'm not a Bose fan but I do acknowledge that their QC line is good noise cancellation). While on public transit I can still hear some of the vehicle noise and I noticed that it mildly effected the audio I'm listening to but for my needs it's perfectly fine.I'm knocking off a star for the somewhat flimsy case though. It's plastic and feels like they'd fall apart and also there is an audio delay if you're using it to watch video(I do not). Do I find them pricey, yes but these fit exactly my needs and are super light and comfortable so I like them.
