AKT Mini Deodorant Balms Discovery Set, Pack of 5 x 0.16 Fl Oz, All Genders

I've spent decades (really) searching for a deodorant that is cruelty-free, effective, and non-irritating. Some have worked for a while, then just quit working. Others were fine until they suddenly started irritating my skin (leaving rashes, itching, etc.). I found this on a list of favorites somewhere and was intrigued by this trial pack. I've spent a small fortune in deodorants I've had to toss, so this didn't seem too crazy when looking at it that way (rationalization?). Well, it works better than ANYTHING ELSE I'VE EVER TRIED. It also keeps me drier, which I wasn't expecting (as it's not an anti-perspirant). I could probably even skip a day as there has been ZERO odor (beyond product scent, which does last). Hmm, I might even try that now that I've moved on to a full-sized subscription option. Packaging: love that it's completely recyclable. Per the instructions, I snapped off the cap and used the pointy end to plug (fine to sit on a shelf, would put in a baggie if traveling). A tube lasted well over a week, closer to two. The only scent I couldn't use at all was the lavender (Onsen), as I'm allergic to it, so I gave the tube away. -Orange Grove - also has a cooling feel on application with a mild (also old?) woodsy/citrus unisex scent, cb a favorite, especially in summer - After Thunder - mild (don’t know if sample is old, or it’s the nature of the scent) cedar wood with a touch of something brighter; cooling on application, but this wears off; neutral unisex, would be great in summer - Columbia Rd. - high-end baby powder/rich-lady face cream, okay feminine-leaning body-care scent, absolutely non-irritating/drying, may turn to this if my fav's get irritating - Halcyon Summers - woody (sandalwood, cedar wood), pleasant, leans too masculine for me but would love it on DH

Although expensive, this little sampler pack is well worth it to see if this deodorant is for you. The scents are diverse and in my case I loved two of them, disliked two and found one ok. So it was good not to have to buy a whole tube to see. There are lots of reviews here complaining about the tubes and having to use your fingers. I don't know why someone would buy this if they are squeamish about using their fingers. It's not like this is a secret. I find it fine. I used it, wash my hands, move on. And the tubes are fine (these ones are really small, but even the big ones, which I bought after trying this out) work well for me. And as for the deodorant itself, it is easily the longest lasting deodorant I have ever used, and it isn't even close. After 24 hours with sleep thrown in it still smells like a fresh application. I have long searched for a plastic free deodorant (i.e. not anti-perspirant with aluminum) that actually works - most don't, or at least don't last. This is finally it. I will never go back.

Lots of room for improvement, but 4 stars because I'm pretty sure I'll keep buying it (for the scents if nothing else!). I've tried Orange Grove and After Thunder so far. Orange Grove's scent is great, but I would love for it to be stronger. After Thunder's scent is also great but too strong. It's not an antiperspirant, and the paste base of the balm makes it kind of swampy vs. options that are more gel-based, but also less wet-feeling, so I guess it's just a trade-off vs. a negative for akt specifically (if you can't use antiperspirants, you can't really solve this either way). The scent also changes over the course of the day, which was disconcerting at first because I thought it had stopped working. The only clue was I didn't smell bad — just different — by the end of the day. I definitely recommend getting a tube key, but if you don't want akt's garish and expensive gold one, I found a basic aluminum one for $6 here on Amazon. Applying it is a bit of a messy business, and other reviewers are right that oil seeps around the seal. Not sure if I'll get an applicator or not, but there are compostable bamboo options if you don't want akt's (same comment about garish and expensive). I really like the scents, though, so I'll probably buy more!

I adore this brand, this deodorant and so many of the scents! If you’re on the fence, this is your sign to 100% buy these. Incredible to have in your purse, makeup case and desk. A little goes along way and they last for ages. If you get the full size, 100% worth it to get the “key”. But, is important to note, that you snap the top off to open (not twist or pull) and you then flip that tip and insert into the hole to close. Because id tried to unscrew and pull using the top didn’t work to close the first one. Wish I’d known : )

The price for all five different scents is great. My biggest problem with these products is that they all smell exactly alike, I decided to try them all out after receiving one as a Christmas stocking stuffer. All smell exactly like Cedar Eucalyptus Bitter Orange. I don't have any dryness or irritation.

credit where credit is due - I’m a heavy stress sweater and even a lot of clinical strength deos don’t work on me. I impulse bought this discovery set to try and for a natural formula it works surprisingly well. for deo I prefer the fresh laundry/baby powder family of fragrances - wish I just bought a full size columbia rd which smells clean and soapy. the others are all very heavy botanical essential oil spa vibes (to be honest they all smell nearly identical to me - I saw another review say fragrance in discovery vs full size was different, so maybe some batches got mixed up). tubes leaked oil everywhere so I had to store them swaddled in a paper towel. wouldn’t wanna risk traveling with them, which is annoying because they are tiny lol. in summary this stuff is really nice but I regret spending $50 on basically a free sample amount of product with indistinguishable fragrances in faulty packaging.

I was skeptical of the price and with that in mind resealable containers would be a smart move for AKT, but overall loved the deodorant! Honestly not helpful in deciding a scent since all 5 smell incredible and I am just as indecisive now. the tubes did leak some oil after being opened for a while but I just kept them in the cardboard box they came in so the leakage was soaked up and didn’t cause any excess mess.

First of all- if you can't read a label and compare the picture to the size of the man's hand- that's on you. The product is virtually identical from scent to scent on the first three in the kit- orange and after thunder are my two favorites. They just rotate the high notes so you get whichever you prefer first in the scent profile. The after thunder is probably a narrow favorite over the orange- but they're both hard to choose between due to the scent similarities. The far and away benefit to this product is the potent nature and concentrated potency. You will get many uses out of these tubes, assuming you aren't a baboon at applying it. I'm telling you, about two inches total for full coverage of your boys and you're good. It takes an inch at a time, and you won't have the ridiculous drying issues of tapioca- which ridiculously dries my hands for more than one day. Those suck- these are excellent and high end product. Pick your favorite, it will last much longer than most products, I get 2+ days from one application if I'm not doing anything strenuous, have had 0 negative reactions or the smell permeating clothing in a negative fashion or causing friction and not preventing any of the things I bought it to do. Don't hesitate- the samples are a great way to find your scent. I assume the unscented is the way to go for those with allergies to the scent ingredients.

Testing to see if all the raves about it is true. The only held back was how pricey it is, but splurged out for a job interview as I really don't want to smell bad, and it worked brilliantly. Still anxiety sweated loads, but massively suppressed the smell. I've only tried the purple scent 3 for a couple days, and I didn't put a lot on, just enough to cover lightly and it works the whole day, but I'm not a big fan of the essential oil for scent 3, kinda smells like a grandma so hopefully the rest gets better. For the reviews that claim it doesn't stop sweat, I thought this is marketed as a deodorant, if you want to stop sweat maybe you should try an antiperspirant? Also the snap off cap can be put back in the other way around so no leaks for me as others have mentioned. Will I buy again? I guess more time is needed to see the difference considering the price tag, and maybe reserve use only for special occasions.

Better than expected! I have been looking for a natural deodrant. I bought trial pack 30th Jan, I'm still 3/4 in on my first tube and it's the end of Feb. Ive used it everyday, It lasts a long time, so you definitely get your moneys worth. Nice smell, i don't find it overpowering. It's not overly perfumed but still does it's job. SCREW CAP: It snaps off and you use the pointy bit you snapped off to peg it back on. If you twist it back on it's much more secure. Slightly odd design but I found twisting it back in is fine. Looking fwd to smelling the rest! I probably don't need a full tube at this rate!

I really don't know what the fuss is about. This is extremely expensive and does not go on easily at all. The fragrance is week too. Avoid.

Why did you choose this product over others?: I saw as advert on instagram so thought I’d give it a try. The scent was nice, however it doesn’t stop you sweating so for me, doesn’t work. Quality: 2.5/5 - scent great , sweat prevention poor Longevity: 2/5 - sweat immediately (and I’m not an abnormal sweater) Effectiveness: 2/5 - doesn’t stop sweating with normal day to day activity, let alone being on stage. Smell: 5/5 great scent Design: 3/5 nothing abnormal.
