Q: Why is this not allowed in listed states if its organic?

Check the N-P-K value. Several states have a restriction on using ferts containing phosphorus.

Q: My back yard was just seeded with new grass. I was told to fertilize it once the grass just comes up, with a 20-15-10 mix. Will this fertilizer work?

It will; however, I would recommend a fertilizer with less phosphorus. Phosphates are destructive to aquatic life and are responsible for numerous fishkills. You can find fertilizers, especially natural ones, that are phosphate free.

Many grasses move into a "sleeping", low/no-growth state when temperatures remain over ninety degrees for several days. Living in South Carolina, we are fortunate the soil doesn't typically freeze during the winter, thus permitting an expanded fertilizing schedule. When used according to directions, the Scott's product can easily be applied every two months, even in the winter. My yard certainly benefitted from this last winter. However -- I have adjusted my feeding schedule to ensure the early June feeding is the last feeding until mid September when I aerate and plant grass seed. Otherwise, it's every two months. I've seen absolutely no indication the Scott's product will "burn" or over-feed when used according to directions. Rather, I can find no business reason for applying fertilizer at a time (July-August) when grass is in a "sleeping state". There's just no reason for it since there's no benefit for doing so.

Q: I have a well (sand point) at 20 feet depth. My ground is sandy. Would this product contaminate my well if I use it?

Although the product claims to be all natural, I would probably not use anything that isn't organic under such conditions where a fresh water well is concerned.
