Love that it’s a kit needles are sharp and strong. Threads are good colors for upholstery and very strong. Thankfully came with needle threader

This seems like a fairly good set for $8. You get shiny, thick, braided thread in black, white, and a brown coppery color. None of the needles are very sharp except for the smallest one- but they still should form enough of a point to pierce into most materials and they seem fairly sturdy as well. This is great for hand-sewing and I like the different variety of needles provided- much better set than a small sewing kit you get at the same price that only comes with the same type of needles and barely any thread at all. Since the needles aren't terribly sharp, these are good for leather assuming you've punched holes out.

Great assortment of strong needles, three colors of strong thread. Originally ordered to reattach a backpack strap, ended up using it for my daughter's Halloween costume fashion emergency. She broke the last needle she had for her sewing machine and was freaking out that she wouldn't be able to finish her costume in time. I calmed her down and grabbed a needle and thread out of this kit and was able to hand sew thick elastic straps onto a triple layer of faux fur and heavyweight stabilizer. Thank God I had this kit on hand! Love it, great quality, nice assortment, great price!

The thread is not smooth in that its more like a thin string. There is no information on the packaging as to what material the thread is made from, but the listing states "nylon". I have not tried it yet.The primary reason for the 4 stars prior to seeing if the thread even works, is because the needles come in a cardboard that has comments on what each needle is best for. 4 of the 7 needles are just various large sized needles (girth and eye). Of the remaining 3, 2 are curved "mattress" needles that are also for "upholstery".I am hoping to do some of the repairs shortly, but whenever i get to them, i will document if the needles make it through without breaking.

This kit was a good price at $8 considering the same set of needles bought alone is $10. I actually already have this exact same set of needles (same brand packaging and well over 10 years old). I was expecting a different brand than what I coincidentally already have. Not sure I'll be able to use the thread in my sewing machine as it is very thick, as you can see in the picture where I compared it to regular Gutermann sewing thread. Will need to tackle a hand sewing repair job to test it out. Will update review after I try it on my sewing machine.

I ordered this heavy duty sewing kit because I had to repair an old WWII gas mask bag used in cosplay. First, I must say that there are three spools of very heavy thread, white, tan and black, 73yds/roll, according to the listing. This stuff is almost micro-paracord heavy. Excellent for substantial work on heavy canvas or leather. The eyes on most, not all, of the needles is large enough for the thread. I used the sail needle for about 2.5” through 3 layers of canvas, and it held up well to pliers and a sailor’s palm. All the needles appear to be sharp and substantial enough to use on heavy materials. You just need to find a small container to hold the needles and thread. If you want a simple kit, and at a reasonable price, this would be a good buy.
