A poorly-thought-out (and expensive) book. Very frustrating for children.
You know that scene in kids' movies where the old toymaker gets replaced or bought-out by the men in suits & dark glasses and these men are more interested in making money than in kids or their education? That is this book. The Disney Corporation have bundled together all their favourite characters (who I and my kids genuinely love) and created an impressive-looking kids storybook. But the problem is they apparently didn't speak to a single teacher, nor indeed anyone with kids - as it is one of the most dreadfully-written books in our home. It has awful sentence construction, clumsy, rushed storylines and then, right around the corner, some of the most complicated vocabulary possible (you try explaining the use of Dumbo 'bathing in his mothers love' to a highly-proficient 6 year-old reader). This book manages to turn storytime into a frustrating experience for the child, who desperately wants to hear about these lovely characters.All-in-all, in my opinion, this is a badly written collection of stories thrown together as a cynical way of creating a big, fat storybook, to boost sales - one I suspect Walt Disney himself would be ashamed to have his name on.There are 100 books your child will enjoy (time and time again) more than this one.
