Simple, works great, includes a wire diagram.
Very easy install, the included diagram gives you enough info for the installation. You will need common sense and a wire diagram for your vehicle. Google is a huge help for the source.. The item worked great out the box, both remotes worked and started the car first try. One item of note. I installed this on a 2004 Toyota Corolla with an automatic.. it did not need a bypass. Please call your dealer with the VIN and have them verify this before getting in over your head. Also, you will need to ground the emergency brake wire that is part of the harness. If you do not ground it, it will not start.. simple, but confusing if your working with an automatic transmission...

Know what you need and where to get it installed, this isn't a "stand alone" unit!
OK! I'm sitting in a shop right now paying to have this installed. So there's a few VERY important things you should know about this before you buy it. First: if you are a do it yourself kind of person, FORGET IT. Move along. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Trying to contact Directed (the manufacturer of Viper brand products) is like trying to get Trump to accept a Muslim immigrant - it just isn't going to happen. Call them, email them, Directed doesn't deign talk to us lowly peasants, they ONLY deal with their vendors and retailers, the rest of us are like Metallica fans at a Boy George concert - we're not going to have a good time. Second: you can't get directions from the manufacturer, you can't get a "how-to", you can't even get an email back! Good freaking luck. So what you have to do is either 1. Know someone who is a dealer for Viper or 2. Be one yourself or 3. Suck it up buttercup, and find a retailer who will install this for you. You MIGHT save 30 or 40 bucks over the dealer price BUT thats if you can find a dealer who will install a factory refurbished system - I was told flat out by at least two dealerships that they only installed it if they sold it. So you may lose any savings you would otherwise have made because you have to go with a more expensive dealer for installation because that may be the only guy you can find to plug in a bring-your-own unit. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Yes, just like Billy Mays, this one keeps giving. You see, you have to have an interface for this to work with most factory stuff unless your ride is older than George Burns - and guess what, us peasants aren't given the details on how to program the interface. Oh it's out there on the internet, but digging it all up is a study in abject futility. So unless you're comfortable splicing wires with sketchy youtube advice and hand drawn questionable wiring details or unclear forum posts that you're TRYING to adapt to whatever you drive? Don't, just don't, go masturbate with a cheese grater, it will be more satisfying to you in the end. Once again, you may just lose any money you were going to save by having to do to whoever you can find who's WILLING to install this bring-your-own unit if you can't find all the information you need to do it yourself. And that's what this is, a factory refurbished system, so if it doesn't work? Wellllll good luck getting VIPER to help you with THAT! I mean, they won't even talk to us so I'm waiting four hours and praying this factory refurbished is good. Oh this seller sent what they advertised, but what they don't say is "What, you want to install it? HAHAHAHA!" No, seriously, you go to Viper's site and "spec" your needs based on your ride and all that, but then you get what the "Viper" web site says you need annnnnd they neglect to tell you that you need that interface and programming. Jokes on you sucker! TL:DR version. Do your homework and realize that this unit isn't all you need, it's NOT going to come with directions / instructions, it's going to be hard to find someone to install it and very questionable to find the information to install it yourself, the manufacturer is NOT going to be helpful, and you are going to STILL pay for it. If you aren't already a dealer, forget saving money by going the DIY route with Viper.

Remote start spoiled
I have never had a remote start before and after doing this, I don't think I could EVER go back! Thank you!

Takes some getting used to, pushing the button sequence to start, stop or unlock doors. Do some research first. I have a 2011 odyssey, when this thing is in use, the controls on the key itself for door slide, lock/ unlock, trunk - do not work. The remote start overrides them. I can lock, unlock and leave it running with the key out. However I must unlock the van with the viper remote and then open the door manually or with the panel button on the drivers side console - remote entry will not work!!!

Not a dyi friendly manufacturer!
Tough product to install because they do not provide detailed instructions unless you are a dealer.

Make sure you check that there are no added parts needed to install in your car
Thought it was a great deal until I had to spend money for another part not included in the box. It wound up costing the same as it would have if I had just gotten it at the big box store.

Lacking install info, never worked right
First I have to say I've been an ASE master technician for 25 years. If viper is selling these to the general public, why don't they have vehicle information on their website? You can't really find much online about the installation process. I installed this on a 2001 gmc. I got it to start but then it would die right away. The only code it would give me is for a remote button being pushed which it wasn't. Then out of the blue literally it tried to start itself again. Not right away mind you, but like 10 minutes later, by itself, no buttons pushed. So I took it back out of my vehicle and gave up. Probably not worth the average persons time to buy one of these. Your best bet is go to an accessory installer and have it installed. O doubt I'll get my money back on this unit since I did actually have it in the truck so I'm just out of luck.
