£59 well spent
The media could not be loaded. Was a little sceptical about the item. Wanted it to take my 4 year old grandson for bike rides. He can't ride solo yet. Absolutely brilliant. Took to it straight away and good practise peddling before we send make him solo. No need for stabilisers at all. Remarkably stable when riding.Great product.Instructions are poor. After a bit of trial and error got it attached.£59 well spent. Will last long enough for my other two grandchildren when old enough.

Excellent product
Bought the Trail-gator for our 4-year-old daughter. She'd used a balance bike since her third birthday and moved on to pedals on her fourth birthday. After approximately 30 minutes of fitting the Trail-gator to his bike, Dad took a test ride on his own before allowing our daughter to climb aboard. Our daughter loved it instantly. Dad obviously noticed a difference with our daughter's bike attached to his but did not find it a struggle and said there was very little difference with our daughter onboard.Dad found the set-up easy, but found the fixing to the child's bike a bit fiddly. There are several mentions in other reviews of the fixing having scratched the paintwork on the child's bike, but Dad first wrapped some insulation tape round the headstock so the fixing did not come into direct contact with the paintwork, which also seemed to help with grip.We haven't experienced any problems with the bolts coming loose (Dad obviously made sure they were tight first time!) and our daughter has remained upright at all times. Our first outing was in a forest and over some very rough terrain. Having explained to our daughter that she must keep her feet on the pedals and hands holding the handlebars at all times, the ride went without a hitch. As mentioned in other reviews, the Trail-gator is easy to remove when not in use and therefore easy to attach to another bike if you purchase the additional fixings separately.I would say if there is a downside to this product, it is simply that after a long ride our daughter was the only one out of five that had any energy left!

Not perfect, but very useful!
Does a great job, turning the kids- and parent bikes into a tandem- combo. The installation is fairly straight forward and connecting/disconnecting the kids bike is quick enough. The kids bike is tilting to the side a bit when connected, but so far it didn't bother our child. I suppose the stabilisers were tilting the bike to the sides as well, so the child has to try balancing him/herself with stabilisers, too. This bar is not perfect, but with our 5yo child too big for the biketrailer/ child seat, but too young to keep up with us on a longer bike- tour, it is a great invention!

Designed in a shed. Too much slack and wobble. Fit for scrap.
Where to start? There's a lot of steel in this, so it's heavy. Not a bad thing since it has a bike hanging off it. Instructions were OK. Followed them as close as possible and got everything set up for a test ride. Oh dear. The slack/wobble/flex made it unrideable. Having a tag-along which had similar issues, I went round and tightened all the bolts/nuts as much as possible to take out the slack. Hardly any improvement. I think the design is poor. The clamps around the headtube have to be tightened to the point where they damage the headtube. This will vary depending on bike - ours is standard 18 inch Halfords boys bike. The design has five points which introduce slack - two at the kids bike end, one in the middle and two at the adult seat end. The combined slack makes the child and their bike wobble horrifically from side to side. This then makes the adult compensate. As I said, I've also experienced this on a tag-along, but that is only one connector and can be tightened to eliminate slack. This Trailgator can't - the design means there will always be some slack either side. Not only is this product not fit for purpose, it is dangerous in my view. It's going back to Amazon for refund on that basis.

MORE THAN GREAT
THE TRAILGATOR IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.DIDNT KNOW THE TRAILGATOR, BUT LEARNED ABOUT IT LOOKING FOR SOME KIND OF TANDEM CYCLE FOR ME AND MY DAUGTHER.WILL SAY LIKE OTHERS, THAT IT IS NOT SO EASY TO PUT TOGETHER. BUT WERE OTHERS SAY THAT ITS HEAVY TO DRIVE WITH, I DONT AGREE AT ALL. MUCH EASIER THAN HAVING THE CHILD IN A SEAT ON YOUR OWN CYCLE. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING I FOUND IT GREAT,NO DIFFICULT IN TURNING EITHER.MY ONLY "COMPLAINT" WHY DIDNT I KNOW OF THIS PRODUCT BEFORE ???? MY DAUGTHER WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF THAT BABY SEAT AT LEAST 2 YEARS EARLIER.ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, WE GO EVERY WERE TOGETHER (OR SEPARATE ON SMALER STREETS TO LEARN)WELL, I SHOULD MENTION THAT MY DAUGTHER LOVE IT TOO.Trailgator Towbar For 16-20 Inch Wheel Bikes

Easy to fit and use.
After having one before I knew this was the one to get. Despite it stating 16-20 inch wheel I took the gamble for my boys 14" bike and it was fine. It might be ok due to the fact I have a 29" wheeled mtb. Had a small problem of the clamp on my boys bike not being tight enough causing it to vere off to one side all the time but soon sorted after borrowing a spanner at a bike shop on route. Overall a good handy product that should last a few years. Handy if you child isn't up for that long ride or not 100% road confident.

To much movement on anchor points.
Followed instructions, but there is still movement on anchor point of child's bike causing there bike to tilt to one side. Very uncomfortable for child.
