Sport Fish of Florida

I recently spent 7 days on a boat in the FL keys. We basically fished from dusk till dawn. Though I am an experienced fisher-woman, I can only claim to be experienced in fresh water fishing. I am not from Florida and this was my very first time ever fishing in saltwater! I ordered this book so I can have an idea of what fish I may catch, the bait, eating quality, and habitat. Within these 7 days, my husband I caught 36 different species of fish!!! All of which I instantly threw in my live well, then yanked this book out to figure out what type it is while the fish was recovering in the live well, then took a picture and set it free! I absolutely loved the fact that I had this book with me and had instant knowledge about these type of fish! I can only recommend anyone to get this book and have it with you at all times. Even though I kept this book as much as possible in a zip lock bag, it did get soaked quite a few times! and the cover was the first thing to tear off. So the ONLY and single reason why I did not give a full 5 stars is because it is just not fit for the rough sea. I understand that the production cost of this book would be much higher if produced in a water resistant way, but I bet with you that ANYONE who ever owned this book, would have no problems spending the extra $$!

This is a great book there are a lot of different species in it. It has Saltwater and freshwater fish in it for Florida each fish it describes what it looks like how big or small they can be the quality of the fish for eating its game quality ( like how it fights and how big the fight), what tackle and bait you should use and what fishing systems you should use for that type of fish.It even tells you the range and area the fish lives and its habitat. I used to live in the Keys and worked as a park ranger at one of the state parks there. I fished nearly every day from the Channel 5 Bridge and snorkeled throughout the northern Keys and did a lot of research as to which field guide would help me the most. I found this one to be the most helpful.1. Easy-to-understand drawings (drawing are often best in guide books rather than photos of individual specimens)2. Food value (often entertaining)3. Range information lets people know at what time of year the fish will be running in one area4. Size information and official records5. Best method of angling6. Book is tough enough to be stuffed in and out of a bag, put up with bloodstains, and doesn't fall apart when it gets splashedFor fish specific to Florida and the Keys this is a must-have book. Would be great to keep on your boat or carry with your tackle. I ended up writing in it where I had caught each fish and when; now when I look back at it I can remember where I was and what the fight to land the fish was like.Invaluable if you like to fish or if you like fish!

This book is great but I did not realize that I was buying a used book and it arrived in not great condition. It was a gift, and I was embarrassed by how rough the book looked and had to cover up a bunch of kid’s writing in the inside flap. So this is a great book but I would buy it new. In fact, I would not buy used books off of Amazon again. (And I loved used books in general.)

I bought this book so I could log my fishing catch every time I had a trip to Florida. Now every time I look in the book I remember oh yeah, I caught that fish. I remember the weight I remember what I used and where I got it. It’s just a very good book that obviously will not change, it’s not digital where I could delete information. I love it so much!

I bought this as a gift for my husband. He's not a big reader, but he loves to fish. This may be the first book I've ever seen him read and finish. Now, he keeps it with his tackle gear on the boat. I haven't read it myself, but I'd recommend it as a gift for any angler.

I'm moving to FL in a year, and need to learn the species so I can remain legal with the multitude of size limits and quantities for the vast amount of species to be caught. Will be using this book, and the FishRules app, to stay legal, while fishing South Florida.

Love this book. Very detailed about every species in it. Describes the average size, quality as table fare, where found and the type of techniques to catch them. Pictures are very detailed and in color. A must have book. Very enjoyable to read. You will NOT be disappointed.

The pictures were good and I really liked the layout. Covers all I wanted from it. Gives food value as well as very basic tactics for fishing.

Good book alot of information in that we wanted to know

gehts nach Florida zum Angeln ist diese Buch unverzichtbar. Gute Abbildungen und ausreichende Beschreibung. In Kombination mit "Fish Florida Saltwater" von Boris Arnov der ideale Begleiter. In dem genannten Buch sind die Bilder unzureichend, dafür die Infos besser. Ich würde beide zusammen empfehlen.

Most of the pages were loose But it said that in remarks when i purchases it It was very cheap though the delivery was expensive for an item like this
