Star Trek - First Contact [DVD]

I viewed this tonight (6/23/2016) to commemorate the wrap of production of First Contact twenty years ago at this time. I had not seen the movie on the big screen since 1996, and did so tonight thanks to the current state of high performance home theater front projection and sound systems. I was blown away by how terrific it looked, and having forgotten much of the story, really enjoyed re-visiting it. Matt Leonetti's cinematography looks magnificent! Hats off to David Luckenbach's and Mike Weldon's terrific work. Now, full disclosure: I was on the crew of this show, and loved every moment working with Jonathan Frakes, the cast, Matt Leonetti, and all the crew. The NG cast was definitely a family, often hilarious, and wonderful to work with. Definitely a career high point! Picture and sound quality of the transfer are excellent, even on a demanding big screen. If you haven't seen this one in a while, it's worth a nostalgic re-visit. Enjoy.

This is without question my favorite of the Star Trek movies I have seen so far. I had always wanted to know more about the early days of the Federation, and what was going on in the Star Trek universe between the current-year on Earth and the 24th century world of Star Trek: The Next Generation, especially the time period that comes before Star Trek: Enterprise (another of the best Star Trek shows).I greatly enjoyed the high definition qualities of the movie. It was truly wonderful to see Captain Picard, the Starship Enterprise, and all of its outstanding crew in high definition again! The high definition adds a lot to Star Trek -- such fantastic detail and visual clarity.The acting was much better in this film that it was in Star Trek: Generations as well, and the Enterprise crew seemed like they acted much more like the Enterprise crew did in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The story was also much better as well.I would highly recommend this for anyone who has seen Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise and who enjoyed those shows (particularly Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager).

Obviously this is the best movie of The Next Generation series. I mean, is it even debatable?The Enterprise E makes it's debut. Picard goes Captain Ahab on the Borg. (That reference is a whole thing) Vulcans get all uncomfortable when people are dancing to rock and roll music. It's got a little bit of everything.There are even elements from this movie that work they way into Star Trek Enterprise, which occurred 200 years before TNG, but about 30 years after the Earth scenes of First Contact. So that's fun.

I saw Star Trek: First Contact three times on the big screen. Each time it was a real pleasure, seeing the Next Generation crew battle the Borg and travel back in time to one of the key events that shaped they world they know and love. Fantastic special effects, great acting from Patrick Stewart and the cast, especially Johnathan Frakes, Levar Burton, and Brent Spiner. Frakes also shows true talent behind the camera as a director, tackling the themes of revenge, humanity, and hero worship. Even if you are not a Trekkie, this is a very easy film to follow, although seeing a few of the Borg centric episodes of the television series first does help. Especially, The Best Of Both Worlds, since it gives you a better understanding of Captain Picard feelings about the Borg. Even 20 years after its release, it still holds up well and in our troubled times it message of hope for the future is more important than ever.

My mom and I walled out of the theater after watching thus movie when it came out and turned around and went back it.It was that good when it came out.It holds up now.The Borg are truly terrifying in this movie and the production was top notch then and now. In addition, the music is the best of all Star Trek. This movie's theme, this movie's red alert (Worf's theme on the Defiant), TNG Inner Light, and Insurrection's "No More Questions" are definitely part of my top 10.J.G. beat John Williams this time, ha.1000% better than the Abrams movies and *STPicard*.I could have written better fanfiction than that garbage.This is the Pinnacle of Star Trek. Khan, Search for Spock, & First Contact I really likedStar Trek Online does better Star Trek than Star Trek Picard.

Wanted to see this movie so searched it on my Roku. There it was on Amazon Prime to buy HD for $13.99. Okay...So I clicked it, didn't notice some blurb from IMDB, which Amazon bought, but no charge. Huh...After about 20 minutes in the middle of dialogue there was a 2 minute commercial interruption. For the whole movie only @ 3 more.Hey Amazon Prime, if I wanted one of those zillions of apps with ads, I wouldn't pay for you!Very disappointing. Told it was apparent before I clicked. I didn't notice it. Also, Prime direct said it was unavailable.Anyway, still a good movie, no cuts for ad space, but I wouldn't do it again. And IMDB should have its own seperate channel.

I find myself viewing these "star Trek" and earlier ones so much more then the New Discovery Show .I actually cannot stand what CBS has done to such a great franchise , It stinks so much of Demanding Plot lines , and of such far left values being thrown down a Trekkies throat. in Season 1-3 of Discovery the Only white hetero sexual male are Evil . season 3 gets so bad not one white straight male is a Bridge member or a steady cast member .These older films yes always had a slight left agenda even the original Kirk ones , but were with in belief. compared to the Director of Discovery stating he does not care if a Trump supporter or republican ever views his show with such Hatred among the Cast and staff of Discovery no wonder the last day of filming season 3 the sets were destroyed and burned .Yet some 40 years after the first Star Trek and 20 years after TNG , the movies still get top play around the worldSo save any thoughts of a better Trek series to come it will not as long as the corrupt anti white male hating people run Discovery and Trek Rites

Seen it when it came out great film enterprise up against the Borg lot of action on the ship and funny on earth it’s great the first time we meet the Vulcans

I have bought many second hand DVD’s from this company and all have been great and worked but Deep space 9 was in poor condition and would not play some episodes at all I was very disappointed. However I did get a refund with no arguments so that was very pleasing so I will continue to buy from them .

this dvd stopped and started throughout the play, I know its a used item but its no use to anyone if it's damaged.Waste of money as I had to buy again from other seller.

A brilliant movie with a great plot and storyline. It differs from the earlier movies in that it is mostly set in the past, for the crew of the USS Enterprise-E, which is a refreshing change and plot twist. Patrick Stewart truly uses his training as a Shakespearian actor to add emphasis and stress the mental strain Jean--Luc Picard is dealing with after his assimilation by the Borg.This movie is ideal for fans of the franchise in general, particularly those who prefer The Next Generation to other series within the continuity, but is also accessible to those with little knowledge of the Star Trek universe as it is so well written and as a result easy to slip into.

My first contact with the borg in HIGH DEFINITION swept me off my feet. One of the best ST feature films amazed me again. Watched on my 24" LED monitor it was stunning. I love the new ST blu-ray menu. Funny that most blu-ray have crap menus but this one is amazing. Loaded with extras a real bargain to be watched over and over again.Pure HD entertainment. You will experience details both audio and video which will really surprise you. Go get it. Delivery was good not excellent but patience is a virtue
