Easy to carry and deploy
Our good friend's young daughter is an RN that works the night shift at one of the local hospitals and although it is in a very nice and secure section of town, you never know and can never be too careful. When I got the opportunity to evaluate this Mosaic personal safety alarm, I thought of her and believe that it might be something that would make her more comfortable in the parking garage, when leaving work late at night. I was impressed at how simple and quick it would be to deploy in an emergency and how it can be attached with the carabiner to most anything like a bag or jacket zipper or key chain. The alarm is quite loud and the strobe light, if aimed right, would certainly draw attention. It can be recharged with the special included cable that you should probably do every few months just to be sure it is ready to perform. Make sure you label the cable and store it in your “important stuff” draw. They also suggest that it might repel wild animals while hiking in the woods, but I don't think I would abandon my bear spray in any case.

Compact, Inconspicuous, And Effective; A Great Personal Safety Alarm!
Where we live, deer, moose, and bears (not to mention the occasional coyote) are a fact of life. We know they are around and we like to make sure that they know we are around. While constant conversation and noisy walking usually ensure no surprises, windy days with the constant rustling of branches can lead to a closer interaction with wildlife than we originally planned. When it comes to bears, the animal my wife most dislikes meeting, loud noises and bright lights have usually worked for us to frighten the animal away. With that in mind, we ordered this light weight, pocket sized unit to carry with us on walks in the forest and, at night, even in town. Complete with a handy carabiner, the alarm easily attaches to a purse, pack, coat, or belt. Simply separating the top section of the unit from the bottom section sets off the alarm and activates the flashing light; at 130 decibels the noise is loud enough to frighten a predator, and, in the confines of an urban centre, immediately attract the attention of others. The unit will continue to operate for two to three hours or until the top section of the unit is reinserted into the bottom one. It should be noted that, as the operational time increases, the volume of the alarm slowly diminishes.Happily, the unit is rechargeable. The required cable is included in the package (although a charging block is not), as is an instruction manual and the carabiner. While our intended use for this alarm is to deal with unwanted altercations with bears, I fully acknowledge the usefulness of alarms such as this for the protection they provide when dealing with predators of the two legged variety. Light and, more importantly, noise, can be real deterrents to those following you or meaning you harm. A unit as simple as this can be used by anybody, even young children; it is an easy way to deter threats and ensure personal safety.I should add that both my wife and I really like the design of this product. Its small size coupled with an inconspicuous pale gold colour do a good job of disguising its true function and make it easy to keep in an accessible location. It is as advertised, very loud and very bright! My wife and I like to err on the side of caution. There is a good chance that we will never have to use this alarm for its intended purpose and, if that’s the case, we will still be happy with it. Compact, light, and portable, this unit is an insurance policy that, while it might never pay out, provides peace of mind. Recommended.

Loud, compact
This review is for the Mosaic Alarm Rechargeable 130dB Personal Safety Alarm Strobe Light Loud Sound Keychain Siren SOS.Item arrived exactly as described, with the alarm, charging cord and carabiner.I don't have anything to measure decibels, but this is definitely loud. It's a high pitched wobbly type sound, much like a car alarm. The carabiner lets you attach it easily to a bag, or belt loop, key chain etc.One thing I noticed was for the design of the charging port. To charge it, you have to remove the alarm part, setting off the alarm until you can plug in the charger. Same with when you're done charging, you have to unplug it, turning on the alarm until you plug the "key" back in. Plus the charging cable is USB to pin top. I'm sure you could find a replacement on Amazon, but in a world with USB-C, not sure why they didn't include this on the side. I know the battery is supposed to last 2 years, but in that time you could lose the cable then you'd have to order a new one.Overall, the alarm does exactly what the listing says it will do, but I deducted a star for the poor way the charging was designed.

Nice except Recharging Port Location
I like the security of having this keychain siren SOS device. I like hiking at night, and felt safer having this on my backpack the other night. The only bad part of this design is the fact that you have to very quickly pull out the pin to get to the charging port—all while the siren is blaring! I noticed that the siren is much louder on a full charge, which you can’t avoid when unplugging the charger to reconnect the pin. The sound is loud and will definitely attract attention—even at home! When I carried this device at night a week ago in a remote wooded location, I heard elk during rutting season. If they got close, I planned to pull the pin to scare them off. Luckily, they didn’t get close. I did some research after returning home and learned that a loud noise can cause confusion and cause a rutting elk to charge. I realized that I need to do research when using this to scare animals to make sure the animals where I plan to visit would more likely flee or attack due to an extremely loud noise! On a repeat trip the other night I discovered that my very bright headlamp and making loud talking (but not startling) noises caused the elk to move away from my general area. I’m sure the noise would scared away some animals, such as deer and javelina. I think it would also easily scare away a human attacker.I will probably switch this to my keychain now that winter is approaching. I love the gold color and I much prefer this to pepper spray. The white cable to plug into a USB port for charging is included. I would give it 5 stars if the charging port was on the outside.

Didn't Go As Planned
This is super loud!As other reviews have said, a major design flaw is that you have to pull the pin to charge it - which means you're activating the alarm.Well I did this, the noise scared me, I went to shove the pin back in and bent and broke it. Not completely off, but enough. It's still useable but I never want to hear that noise again, so won't be using it.
