Saffron, from Europe, is a gormet additive for sauces, anf is very expensive, and VERY expensive to buy in the US as an import. I ordered this for a food additive. My first clue it may not be authentic is that the powder inside the capsule is a white powder-"saffron is bright gold. And there isn't much in each of these capsules- it's hard to shake out, too. I made a seafood sauce out of cream and butter first, and added 6 or 7 capsule contents to it. I didn't reallly get the super-buttery, unique flavor of saffron. It wasn't a bad sauce, but I added turmeric to give it a more golden color. I don't knowvif I'd order it again, because i don't think this is the saffron I wanted. I prefer to eat my suppliments if I can! I added the shredded clam, and it was a nice complimentary sauce for it. I think it's best used as a creamy sauce for a seafood sauce of any kind.
