Wonderful Story.
The game contains some similarities with other stories:Lord of the Flies: Although the developers said it was not an influence, both stories include British children governing themselves with no adults present, ending with disastrous results. Both stories contain aircraft crashes. The stories contain similar themes of childhood, peer pressure, friendship and society.A Little Princess: The setting for the two stories is exactly the same: England, early 1900's (excluding the 1995 version of the movie, which took place in New York). For another, both the main character's predicaments are similar, as Jennifer and Sara were both orphaned and were sent away to places where they were shunned from the other children. The game is also similar to the theme of A Little Princess; "all girls are princesses," in how the children of Rule of Rose are depicted as either a Prince or Princess. In this case, Jennifer can be compared to Sara, Diana to Lavinia, Wendy to Becky, Mr. Hoffman to Miss Minchin, Martha to the cook, Olivia to Lottie, and so on.Alice in Wonderland: The game has a "lost in a Wonderland" feel to it, as Jennifer is taken to a strange and surreal world. It is revealed that the entire game was a essentially a dream conjured by Jennifer. Inanimate objects sometimes speak and give clues to the protagonist. One part of the game also includes chasing a "white rabbit". Jo Wyatt, Jennifer's voice actor, also voiced Alice for an audiobook.

What an unlucky girl...
Rule of Rose follows the story of nineteen year old Jennifer who becomes trapped at the Rose Garden Orphanage by a group of children calling themselves "The Red Crayon Aristocrats." Having being left alone by the adults, the children here rule by their own aristocracy with a set of rules that must be obeyed if Jennifer wants to avoid an unpleasant fate.[...] (This is the intro movie which plays before the menu, I suggest you watch that to get an idea)Much like a Lord of the Flies situation, the children have formed their own society though they enjoy power games much more than savagery though the two often go hand in hand, each girl has a rank and title and Jennifer must offer monthly gifts to the Princess to advance up the rankings and become an Aristocrat. If she fails the children have some very creative punishments in store. Beautifully cruel, the storyline is fragmented through Jennifer's eyes and needs to be pieced together by the player and make sure to explore everything carefully or you may miss subtle hints that tie into the character's stories. The game lives and breathes fairy tales and breaks them at every twist. You get a dog named Brown as your companion to help you find items to survive the children's games and the game is divided into chapters about each character. The combat is clunky but the storyline is worth it, beautiful cutscenes too, and Jennifer is not the fighting type. Her past has made her timid and withdrawn so it is easier to get into her shoes and run. Household items are used as weapons and the soundtrack is gorgeous!(Woah I just checked this page again...why is the price so high?! This is my favourite game in case you couldn't tell, I just want more people to enjoy it, maybe watch a you tube playthough? don't bother with Cry's because he hated the game and missed a lot of clues to get through it quickly, basically he got frustrated with combat which is supposed to be weak and it wasn't that bad in my opinion, not smooth but nothing to make a fuss over, I've played a lot worse)

Why ban this ?
I recieved this game the other day, played it for a good 3 hours and I found no fear no Violence No Sadism no Scary cutscenes and not much goings on through those good long hours of gaming experience, Maybe I just need to play more inot the game then I might get the answer to why the game were banned but as it stands I dont even get why anyone would ban an game weaker than Resident Evil and Silent Hills, I've played a bit past the scene where you cut the dog free with scissors but the dog scene is basically the only thing thats happened so far! Not even the dog scene were that disturbing infact it were very brief! If I find something behind the reason for its ban then I'll change this review and let you folks know more about the game but its very good in an boring way but why is it so addictive too ? Very unusual game with not much point but worth playing!
