Some similar items don’t hold tight, and the pivot points are not strong, but with this item, everything is tight and strong and does not move. The magnet is strong, so this will not move on you when you’re using an indicator. Satisfied, customer.

This is a poor quality product. The flex shaft would not remain rigid enough to hold the dial indicator

The one knob adjustment is incredibly handy and the fine adjustment knob on the tip closest to where it holds the indicator works well. The magnet is not very strong however and oddly the bottom of the magnet appears to not be perfectly flat so it doesn’t make complete contact with whatever you are trying to stick it to. Overall it more or less works as intended.

GREAT magnetic base! I've used a few of these in the last 35 years in a machine shop. Just as good as the ones costing 5 times as much. The best mag base for the money I have ever owned. STRONG MAGNET - HIGHLY RECOMMEDED!

One knob to tighten the whole arm. Extremely functional compared to the T-arm style. Works perfect with Harbor Freight dial indicator.

Great idea, however it is not rigid enough once set in place to hold without moving for an accurate gauge reading on a ring gear.

I would buy this again. I saw several negative reviews of the base not holding and the arm not being stiff, and I was hesitant about the purchase. I bought the Base and Arm ONLY and I love it. The dial can be rotated to any position with ease and if you have the correct tension on the arm you can even make minor adjustments to reposition the indicator. When positioning the indicator, it is important that you tighten the nut at the upper end first and then tighten the lever to lock it in place. To dispel the negative comments on the holding power of the base and the stiffness of the arm I have attached a video pulling up on the magnetic base with almost 40 lbs. Unfortunately, you can only upload one video so the picture shows me pulling down on the dial end with over a pound of force and the arm returned to its original "0" position after release.

I have just been able to check its functionality for what I need it for, and it will do the job.
