Was Amazing but nowโฆ? (See Updates)
I love this thing SO MUCH!!! Iโve been wanting to get into canning for a really long time but I was honestly intimidated by it. I really love to cook but due to health reasons Iโve made some big changes in my diet. So buying at the grocery store has become more expensive than usual plus I spend so much time reading labels. Canning has given me much greater control of my food (no chemicals) plus I love that I can reduce sugar. This canner has allowed me to explore both styles of canning with ease! Iโve had it for a month and Iโve been able preserve anything from low sugar jams to spaghetti sauce - it is so fun!! It has worked perfectly every time with no issues. The one thing I will say is it only cans 4 quarts at a time but since itโs just me thatโs not a big issue. I looked at cheaper ones here on Amazon but decided to go with this one because it was slightly larger. Iโm so glad I did. This has been one of the best investments Iโve made in a long time!!! UPDATE::: I bought this at the end of June and have used it steadily since with no issues. Today when I was washing the inside liner (mid August), the inside coating peeled off! I notice it lifting at the bottom and when I checked it to see if it was just happening a little bit, it came off in sheets!! This is super frustrating because I have peaches ready to can. Unfortunately today is Sunday so Iโm stuck until tomorrow on getting any help from Presto but I submitted a message with a picture. I have seen this canner compared to the Nesco, so I literally ran to order that one as it will arrive tomorrow. For $300 I would have expected the presto to hold up longer than 2 months. At this point my original opinion has changed. Iโll update my review as the situation develops. :( Update 2: I emailed Presto on Sunday because they were closed until Monday morning. I called Monday morning and got some rude lady who said if I emailed them then I would have to wait until they responded. She said โwe donโt want 2 people working on the same issue โ but she didnโt even want to bother to check to see if they got my email. On Tuesday afternoon I called again. Luckily I got a very nice guy Nick who immediately checked to see if he could find my email but he couldnโt. I emailed him with the picture while we were on the phone and he was clearly flustered at the picture and put me on hold to show Quality Control. They immediately started the process to send me a new liner pan. They also said they may send me a fedex label to send the messed up liner pan back. They told me this is highly unusual and wanted a bunch of model numbers off the unit. I hope to get the replacement liner by the weekend. In the meantime I bought a Nesco. I wanted to see if I made a frivolous choice in buying the presto over the Nesco. Iโm in the process of pressure canning split pea soup right now. Hereโs my thoughts initially- presto is definitely better. Itโs easy to use and warms the jars before canning which I really like because it automates this step. Plus the Presto is much bigger. I prefer wide mouth jars and can get more pints in the presto (7) vs the Nesco (5 and they are really crowded in there). I have decided to keep the Nesco (what can I say - Iโm on a canning roll) so that I can do multiple batches at the same time. I have a glass top stove and am afraid to pressure can on it. Plus I live in Fl so while they do heat up the kitchen the electric canners are not nearly as bad as it could be if done on the stovetop. Weโll see how the new Presto liner pan holds up. They said the issue was not seen before and my research confirmed this because I couldnโt find any evidence that it was a problem before. IMHO if you can afford the Presto itโs worth it. The Nesco also acts as slow cooker and a pressure cooker which really doesnโt impress me. But Iโll definitely it check out even though Iโm not a big slow cooker person and I gave away my instapot wannabe pressure cooker because I felt all it did was boil the meat. Final edit::: I have used both canners multiple times and have decided that I love the Presto the most. It is practically idiot proof because it beeps when it reaches the next step. Thatโs good for a newbie canner because I donโt have to guess if itโs time for the regulator or to start the timer like I do with the Nesco. Plus the Presto lid is much easier to clean and reassemble. The new liner pan for the Presto is a different color with a different coating. So maybe the one I got originally was phased out. The company was very responsive about resolving my issue after I got the right person on the phone. All in all Iโm still glad that I bought the Presto in spite of the issue. One last final edit: it is now two years later (May 2025) and I still love the Presto the most. I have had no additional problems with the liner pan at all and the canner still works perfectly. I actually sold the Nesco on marketplace because I just didnโt use it anymore.

Absolutely worth it
I have been waterbath canning jams for a few years now but wanted to graduate to pressure canning vegetables and meat. I find this machine to be very easy to use, the instructions being clear and precise. I have already used it for pressure canning gold potatoes and they turned out fine. The 12 qt size works out fine for my 2-person household. For a larger household , I would recommend the 17 qt. Please note that you cannot waterbath quarts in this machine. There is not enough room for water to cover quart sized jars. In my small household I only use pints for waterbath canning in this machine. I highly recommend this machine for both beginners and experienced canners.

Works well, easy instructions - but make sure you tighten the rings!
UPDATE - After emailing with reps from Presto, I tried their suggestion to tighten the rings on the lids more than I had ever done in the past. Well, I thank them as I have canned 19 quarts of tomatoes/juice today and happy to report - they have sealed! *My way worked for 47 years on the MirroMatic, but not on the new, easy to use, Presto. Tighten those rings! Update - I have emailed Presto and received an email back requesting answers to the basic questions regarding pressure canning preparation. I answered all questions and will see where this goes. My 2 bushels of tomatoes will be ready for pickup in 2 days. Exploring alternate processing methods. Heartbreaking after spending so much on this canner. Update - Day 2 of canning - 5 quarts of stewed tomatoes. 2 sealed during the first run. Heated up the jars, filled, placed heated new lids and screw bands. Trying again to see if these 3 will seal. Note: I ordered in July so my time has passed that I can return it for a refund so I can purchase another. Not happy at all. Knowing I have 2 bushel of tomatoes on order, it will take forever to process them in this canner. I am pursuing alternate methods. This appeared to be a very nice cooker, unfortunately, it has not sealed my jars in 5 batches of pressure canning tomato juice/sauce. I have NEVER had an issue in the past with my 47 year old MirroMatic. I kick myself for not keeping it once I got this one. I was so excited over the prospect of not having to lift a 22 qt pressure cooker or lifting hot jars from it. At least they sealed. I had 3 not seal in 48 seasons of canning with the MirroMatic. Should never have donated it to the local church rummage sale! Someone got a good one!

This canner allows you to set & go. Now read a book, enjoy a long relaxing bath!
Canโt do large canning batches. But Iโm good with 5 quarts at a time. Pints & half pints can be stacked. Pros Doesn't heat up kitchen. Fantastic because outside doesnโt get hot. I think thatโs a plus. You donโt have to worry about children touching and getting burned. Very quiet and love the automation after button is pressed. No baby sitting to watch if itโs keeping constant pressure at proper settings. I have no regrets! Iโm thankful that I decided to splurge on myself. But the whole family benefits from the convenience and efficiency of this product.

A canning Game Changer!
This is a pressure canning game changer! I really like this electric canner. A well built quality appliance. The menu driven process coupled with their handy one page checklist enables anyone to pressure can with confidence and ease. The best part is once the โcanningโ process begins, you are free to do other tasks while the canning time counts down. Iโll never get rid of my classic โstove topโ Presto canner, but since I received this, Iโve used it exclusively to can salmon and pinto beans. Will be great when itโs time to start putting up the garden harvest next month!

Takes the stress out of canning
Do we need another glowing review for this product? Maybe not, but I'm giving one anyway. This thing is awesome! It's so much easier to use and know that you are cooking and sealing the food properly. I used to do water bath canning on the stovetop, which meant a hot summer day was even worse in my kitchen with all that boiling water. Not now. The only steam I really have to deal with is what's coming off the jams. The timer not only keeps you on track, but it automatically shuts off at the right time. One more big bonus: This year (year 3 of using the product) the handle on the lid broke. The plastic part just kind of snapped off. I kept using it because I was in the middle of a batch of jam and it didn't seem like that missing piece would be a big factor, but I was sad and a little frustrated. I took a photo and emailed Presto (on a Saturday night). First thing Monday morning, there's an email from Presto asking for the numbers off my specific device and within days (DAYS!) I received my brand-new lid delivered right to my door. I am so happy that I bought this canner!

......BUT
I want so badly to give this a five-star review. It's simple to use, and excellent and clear instructions are included. It's quiet. There's no excessive heat and steam. There is none of the constant adjustment of heat, and you can actually walk away from it with no need to check it every ten or fifteen minutes. The canner itself is aesthetically pleasing. It couldn't possibly be easier to clean. BUT: The cooling time is beyond ridiculous, and there's no way to override the preprogrammed cycle. It adds as much as three hours to a single load. I don't need massive amounts of anything in my small household, but it would be nice to be able to do more than two or at the very most three loads in an eight hour day. Overall, I would highly recommend this canner, but be prepared to start very early and stay at it a good bit longer than you thought you might have to.

Absolutely love it
My wife and I have been canning for at least 30 years now (stove top pressure and water bath). She suggested having a look at this Presto canner. Seemed like it was one of those too good to be true things but everything I read about it made it worth trying. It DOES in fact meet the USDA guidelines for home pressure canning of meats and such. We do lots of raised bed veggies, tomatoes, etc. plus things like soup stock and such so it is a year round thing for us. Late summer is obviously a busy time and this thing has been fantastic. We have done a lot of water bath canning as well as pressure canning and it has been perfect every time. No more standing in front of the stove adjusting the temperature to keep the pressure or boiling rate just right. Get it. We got the biggest available at the time (17 quarts) but now they do make some larger ones too. Ours will do five quart jars at a time, so only a small step down from the seven quart stove top pressure canners we had previously but the ease and convenience really are big winners here. It is also nice to have the whole stove back so we don't have to plan around the lengthy canning cycles. Do be aware that is is rather tall, so be sure it will fit your counter top if there are lower cabinets above. We have just enough space on the counter to where the canner can sit without any of it interacting with the cabinets. We may end up getting a larger one at some point now that Presto makes a 23 quart model, but this one is fantastic and is serving us well.

Excellent product makes canning fun!
Love it! Doesheat my house on a hot Day! Never had a jar not seal. I highly recommend this for anyone who has a fear of a pressure canner. Itโs sooo easy with this. I use it weekly. With meat getting so expensive I buy on sale and can one jar meals or whatever else.. it was expensive but I have no buyerโs remorse lol

Love it once you get used to programming it. It is so easy no anxiety that youโre gonna blow up your canner on the stove. Freeze up your stove put it on the counter a sideboard. Just so convenient and easy to use.

No warranty in Canada
Had a broken jar, upon inspecting I notice that one rubber foot was missing from my canning rack. Contacted Presto via email. 2 days later, their customer service dept advised that they would send me a new rack. Excellent customer service and product. Wife is a beginner canner and love this. 2025/09/27 Being in contact with Presto for a couple of weeks now concerning my Presto. On my last day of canning, it malfunctioned and water steamed out of canner. Took all my quarts out of canner and unplugged it. While doing so, heard a sound inside canner. Unscrewed bottom panel and a fuse felt on counter. The fuse came from the electronic card inside canner. Immediately contacted Presto via email. After several communication exchange, I was told that my canner was not warranty in Canada. With the price paid, was very much disappointed.

Presto electric pressure canner
So easy to use. I love it. I have been sitting on the fence with this for a couple years. Do I purchase this or not. Pressure canner to me, is intimidating, but I had heard that this one, easy to use. Okay. I noticed it had gone down in price and I decided to bite the bullet !! ordered it and used it the next day to water bath can. I was anxious, but, I followed the cheat sheet instructions, and wow !! Super easy, start to finish. Now I will use it to pressure can tomorrow and feel comfortable that it will be a "set it and forget it" till it beeps to let me know its done. This has opened the door to all those recipes that I put aside because I was scared of pressure canning. If you own an instant pot, you will have no problem. Same kind of idea only bigger kitchen appliance. Thank you, thank you.
